For a Finnish museum this is quite big and there are loads of things to see. Personally I am not at all interrested in boats and such but this museum was still interresting and if you are into maritime stuff I am sure this will be great. I wanted to visit because I wanted to see the seamonster exhibition but that wasn't really very good. See more..

Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge Museum image
Visited Langinkoski with my husband and young son. This place is impressive, from the little bridges to the impressive lodge, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The rapids are great to watch. I took a walk through the woods whilst my husband was taking photographs, very quiet and peaceful. Great place to visit and take in the different scenery, looking forward to going back. See more..

    Kouvola's Model Railway Museum image
The largest model railroad exhibition in Finland with engines using real whistling sounds. The museum also features a wooden steam train, one of the three existing trains with Masson engine, running through 3 rooms on rails over 2.5 meters high! Visitors have an opportunity to act as engineers for the model trains, and see the development of railroad history. The cafe Onkapannu has always fresh ground coffee and delicious pastries. Museum is loca- ted right next to the railway station. “I will always try to put trains that I believe are of interest to each visitor.” Trains run exactly the same way as VR, see how the train's safety Block system works, but on a smaller scale. The performance takes 45 minutes. See more..

    Bunker Museum image
Experience the Virolahti Bunker Museum which exhibits the construction of the great Salpalinja defense line against Russia during the WW2 in the 1940’s. The museum, which was established in 1980, is also an authentic part of a defense station from the WW2! The museum's exhibition area includes an indoor exhibition, a short film about the construction of the Salpalinja defense line (duration 15 min, language versions available in English, Swedish, German, and Russian) and the fortification area located in the outdoor museum area: 3 illuminated reinforced concrete bunkers, a ball dugout, a wooden dugout, and a collection of different cannons. Cafe serves guests during the museum’s opening hours. This almost 1200 km long defense line starts from the Virolahti region, located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, and continues all the way to the Arctic Ocean! Information about the regular and exceptional opening hours is available on website. Open for groups year-round upon request. See more..

This museum is situated in the Museum Quarter of the Kaunisnurmi area. The museum displays about 300 of the most spectacular and special radios from the 1920s to the 1960s. While the museum tells the story of the history of radio, it also tells about the way people lived in Kouvola at that time. The furniture and other things are matching with the radios. Every room has an interesting commentary that can be heard from the radios by pushing a button. See more..

Interesting museum. A furnished house and work areas. Nice to get a slice of life view of Hamina. It was much more interesting than I expected. There were a few signs in English for the standard house but there were a lot of signs in English for the special exhibit on animal treatment that were scattered throughout the house and work areas See more..

    Kouvola City Museum image
This new City Museum of Kouvola (Kouvolan kaupunginmuseo) was opened in November 2015. It is situated in the same building with Poikilo Art Museum, next to the Museum Quarter with old wooden houses. When you go to the staircase, you see an interesting computer generated video projection by Charles Sandison, an English born Scottish visual artist who lives and works in Tampere, Finland. It consists of local historical documents, words and photos. The museum has temporary exhibitions. The current exhibition tells about living in Kouvola and elsewhere in Finland from the 1960's to the 1980's. This exhibition is open until October 9th, 2016. The exhibition is very interesting but quite small. But I loved it. See more..

The Flag World Of Hamina image
Haminan Lippumaailma (The Flag World of Hamina) has four attractions in different locations: the flag center, the flag park, the path of the Finnish flag and the monumental flag (Suurlippu). The monumental flag is the most interesting one. The flagpole is the tallest flagpole in Europe (100 meters) and the flag is the world's largest flag of Finland. The size of the flag (445 square meters, 16.5 x 27 meters) is the same as the the area of an official basketball court. The weight of the flag is over 30 kilograms. It was extremely interesting to see it! The flag is flying all the time and it is free to see it. There is a parking place next to the flagpole but it is also possible to walk from the center of Hamina. See more..

    Puolakan Talomuseo image
Puolakka House Museum is situated in Mäkikylä, Kouvola, about 4 kilometers from the city center. You see the main building and storehouses in the museum area. Oldest buildings are from the 18th century. The house was for residential use until 1957. The first museum was opened in 1962. Nowadays Puolakka House Museum is an interesting combination of local history and art. The museum is quite small but they have good art exhibitions. Besides, there isn't any admission fee there. The museum is open every day and you see sheep and chickens in the yard. So this tiny museum is very interesting for the whole family, I think. See more..
