The Sculpture Promenade of Contemporary Art with a length of approx. 2 kilometres traverses the centre of Kotka. The Linden Boulevard running parallel with Keskuskatu street won a national environmental structure award in 2001, when the first sculptures were also unveiled. In 2004, the Association of Finnish Sculptors granted the Pro Sculptura medal to the Sculpture Promenade. More than 20 sculptures have been placed between Port Kantasatama and Haukkavuori over a distance of approx. 2 kilometres. The sculptures are within a short walking distance of each other, and along the route there are cafes, restaurants, playgrounds and park benches if you wish to rest for a while. It was interesting to discover that the swastiga was used by the Finnish Air Force already in 1918 - good information about how the swastiga was used by the Finnish military before it was banned. And the Stug III is worth seeing too.See more..
Helvi Honka (1903-1993) was a honorable Principal in Kouvola. Helvi Honka was a small woman but she was a strong leader in a big school for boys. Her statue was erected in front of the city library in 2007.See more..
This quite small statue is located near Kouvola Main Library. It is easy to leave unnoticed. The statue was designed and executed by Onni Pursiainen. He used his son Oiva as a face model. The monument was completed in 1968.See more..
