4.5Arboretum Mustila(26 reviews) - Such a large and old arboretum Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
At the beginning of June seems to be good time to visit, because rhododendrons and azaleas are flourishing. Arboretum is older than 100years and the oldest trees are such a big.See more..
4.5Riverside Park(21 reviews) - Parks Are the Reason to Visit Kotka Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
In this little town in East Coast Finland there are many beautiful parks to visit. How about packing a picnic basket or some sausage and wood or coal and grill your food by the Kymijoki river? Before or after you could make a small walk and check what is blooming this time.See more..
4.5Niivermaki Nature Conservation Area(6 reviews) - A short hiking route and an observation tower Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Forests
There is a very nice circle route named Korpin kierros in Niivermäki Nature Conservation Area. It is 2.1 kilometers long and starts just behind the shopping center Veturi, 200 meters from K-Rauta Ironmonger's (home improvement shop). You don't need wellingtons (rubber boots), because there are boardwalks on the wettest passages. There is a low observation tower on the trail. If you are hiking with kids, you should be aware, because there is a cliff without a fence next to the observation tower. There aren't any services in Niivermäki (not even dry toilets or waste baskets). So you have to use the services of the shopping center Veturi. Niivermäki Nature Conservation Area is worth of a separate trip but it is also a nice resting place for drivers driving along the highway 6.See more..
Huikean kaunis luontokohde, jonka huipulta on todella henkeäsalpaavat näkymät järvien yli. Portaat helpottavat kulkemista.See more..
4.5Hevoshaan Arboretum(5 reviews) - The smaller one of two arboretums in Kouvola Nature & Wildlife Areas
Hevoshaan Arboretum is situated in Sippola (address Silmuntie 140), about 30 kilometers from the city center of Kouvola. This is a quite nice arboretum (a botanical garden devoted to trees). Trees have been planted mainly in the 1930's and some of them in the 2000's. There isn't any admission fee and it is easy to walk along a marked path. However, I prefer Arboretum Mustila, which is located in the former municipality of Elimäki (nowadays it belongs to the city of Kouvola), about 25 kilometers from the city center of Kouvola. Hevoshaan Arboretum isn't as as big and as diverse as Arboretum Mustila.See more..
5.0Heisanharju(2 reviews) - The best nature trail in Kouvola Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Heisanharju Nature and Recreation Area is situated in the former municipality of Jaala. Nowadays it belongs to the city city of Kouvola. Heisanharju is located in Northern Kouvola, 40 kilometers from the city center. Last kilometers are quite narrow dirt road but it is easy to drive there by a passenger car without a caravan. They plow the road from snow in winter, but there may be delays in snow removal. I think that Heisanharju Nature Trail is the best nature path in Kouvola outside Repovesi National Park. The circle trail is only three kilometers long but sceneries are very beautiful. You see small ponds, lakes, eskers and forests. The trail is marked but there aren't any signs with place names there. You don't need a separate map but it is a good idea to take a photo from the map on the information board in the beginning. There is one rest stop on the trail. You find a free campfire hut (firewood available), dry toilets, an outdoor table, a swimming pier and a reservable hut there. This is a great place with children, too.See more..
5.0Kalalampi Nature Trail(1 review) - Kaunis kohde lähellä keskustaa Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Kaunis paikka minä tahansa vuodenaikana. Lintuja usein lammella. Osa pitkospuista mennyt huonoon kuntoon, kannattaa olla tarkkana ettei kaadu tai jalka mene läpi pitkospuista. Noin tunnin lenkki lammen ympäri.See more..
