4.0Jilin Catholic Church(36 reviews) - Built in 1913 and still in excellent condition Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Religious Sites
We visited the Catholic Church today. We were very surprised at the number of Ethnic Chinese wedding couples there to be photographed and make their marriage vows. This church really does have a history. it was built with the guidance of Europeans in 1913. And then has survived the first Chinese republic, the Japanese invasion where the city and church were occupied from 1938 to 1945 and then the war between the Communists and the Kuomintang (who now reside on the island of Taiwan) The church is fully maintained and with all the paintings and artifacts one would expect. The series depicting the "Stations of the Cross" was particularly well done and a moving tribute to the series of people who have protected and maintained this glowing symbol of Christianity for over 100 years. 3.5Changchun Huguo Prajna Temple(31 reviews) - A peaceful diversion in the middle of the city Thursday: 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM Religious Sites
This fully operational temple is situated right in the downtown area of the city. There is no entry fee but it does close at 3.30pm and beware of the beggars that operate outside the gate as not all are what they seem. The temple is not very old but does allow you to get away from the frenetic shopping area, it is however not large enough to lose the noise of the traffic! A nice place to see if you feel like a quiet break from shopping.See more..
Beautiful and peaceful place to have a walk or meditate, learn history and make a wish. The flea market nearby is also full of interesting things and relict details to hunt for.See more..
