I’ve been dreaming of coming to the Rainbow Mountains since I moved to China in 2012 and they did not disappoint. Some say 3 hours at the park is enough, but not for me! I love that they have hop on hop off buses so you can enjoy the spots at your own pace. At the first stop (if you come in from the West Gate…No. 2 is what some call it), there is a coffee shop up a ways with great coffee and some shady spots to enjoy the view. At every stop there are food, vending machines, and restrooms. When you buy a ticket, it is also good for the next day (but you’ll need to pay 20¥ for the bus fee on the second day at the ticket counter). You can go in at 5:30 and experience the morning sunlight on the mountains. So gorgeous and much quieter without all the hustle and bustle of the midday crowds. The no. 4 platform was by far my favorite stop on the bus route to just sit and be and enjoy. Definitely worth the trip! See more..

The Yadan (Dunhuang) Geological Park is a large, remote desert area that had been designated by UNESCO as both a World Cultural Heritage Site and a Global Geopark for its importance in the history (Silk Road) and a unique, natural scenic area. in the GeoPark, there is a modern visitor center with displays describing the area's history. Just outside the rear door of the visitor center, is the Small Fangpan Castle and is located in Yumen Pass. Also from the Visitor Center, there are shuttle buses that takes you to the ancient Han Dynasty Great Wall section. As can be seen in my photos of this section of the Great Wall, the design and construction is very much different than the sections of the Great Wall that is located in central and eastern China. So if you are interested in seeing ancient and historic sites of the Silk Road era like I am, then these attractions are for you. See more..

Going to this park was one of my favorite things we did while in China. When we drove up we could see 40-50 locals doing dance in a big courtyard. As we walked on, we saw older people playing hacky sack, badmitton, singing as a group and playing instruments. It was so nice to get to see so many local people. They were very interested in our daughter (we were 2 Americans-there adopting our daughter) but also very, very nice. The zoo in this park is pathetic though-totally not something you would ever see in the U.S.-concrete slabs with animals on them. There is also a monastary in the park which we enjoyed seeing as well. It is just a beautiful, picturesque area. We loved it! The bathroom facilities were one of the worst we saw in China....so definitely be prepared for that. Squatty potties do not put me off but, after taking one look at the bathroom here I decided I could hold it. :) See more..

I visited here as part of a 32-day solo holiday with China Private Tours. The Mati Temple is a 90-minute or so scenic drive out of Zhangye. Tourists have been flocking to Zhangye with the growing popularity of the Danxia Rainbow Hills and I was able to see Mati in the morning and the hills in the afternoon quite comfortably. Mati Temple is set in the side of a sheer mountain rock wall, surrounded by snow-peaked mountains, which makes the scene quite beautiful. There is a bit of a walk involved from the village parking but nothing too strenuous. I was lucky to be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who was able to explain all the significance of the temple to the local Tibetan people. The intricately inked coloured flags are particularly fascinating. The gold Buddha inside a cave is an impressive sight. Mati Temple should absolutely be on your to-do list if in Zhangye. See more..

The Yellow River is considered the mother of China and here in Binhe Park along the south shore of the river is a statue representing the river mother. There are also other Lanzhou attractions in the park, such as the water wheels and the iron bridge. The park itself makes for a nice stroll along the Yellow River and is popular with the locals. However, keep in mind that the river's water levels sometimes rise to the point where parts of the park become inaccessible (as during my first visit in August 2020). See more..

Lanzhou's Xiaoxihu Park is pretty much a typical Chinese park, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth the time. If you in the Qilihe District of Lanzhou, it's not hard to get to - Bus 139 goes straight to the entrance. Summer time and the Spring Festival are the best time to go - Summer time for the plants, and the Spring Festival for the lights. The Flying Horse of Wuwei sits at the entrance of the park. The lake itself is just average, but there are a couple of cafes and there is a small amusement park inside. There are not a lot of people in the park most of the time, so it is pretty peaceful. Visited this park with friends. We took bus #18 from XiGuanShiZi. It took almost an hour to arrive at the park. You need to walk a little way from the bus stop. No entrance fee. Boardwalks over the marshlands along the Yellow River. Beautiful & shaded. There were lots of flowers as well. It is a very large park, we didn't see it all. I will definitely visit again. Found this park just doing a random scan of my map app. Took a taxi to get here. 5RMB entrance fee. On a hill to the northwest of Lanzhou. Lots of trees, so shady & cool. There are some pavilions, shaded walkways and a small temple. At the top is a memorial of some kind. Great views of the city and a nice, shady area with some exercise equipment. Whatever fruit is growing on the trees is edible because I saw an older gentleman collecting in. I didn't try any myself. A very nice little park, well worth the 5 RMB fee. This Mother & Child granite sculpture is another iconic symbol of Lanzhou. Our driver was adamant that we should at least visit the park and see it. We were glad we did as it was a beautiful piece and truly a symbol of the Chinese people’s persevering spirit. As of July 2016 the road to the park from Dunhuang is under construction and it takes 5hours (200km) one way to get there.We took a driver for 600rmb there and back plus waiting. What bothered us is not the price of the driver or the driving time but the usual annoyances you face when travelling to national parks in china. You pass through the jade pass scenic area on the way and have to purchase a ticket (40rmb). You see an old ruin of a tower and a ruin of a wall. At the park you pay entrance fee plus obligatory bus (over 100rbm) You can only take the jeeps at third scenic spot so you must take the bus first. You are driven to 4 spots.no English explanation.total time around 1-1.5 hours. If you want to see more you need to take a jeep which is another 400 rbm. So it is the usual rip off. You cannot get close to the stones or wander in yourself. The landscape is very eerie and cool. As soon as the road is better I would recommend to go (If you like rocks ;)). See more..

This is a very nice park to relax with local people. In the mornings you can listen to elderly people singing old folk songs, in the evenings many people are here taking a stroll. There are often performances happening. The park is centered around a small lake. There are paved paths and boardwalks over the water. Jinchang is a pretty, small, wealthy city in a poor province. It has a wealth of park, restaurants, shops, and markets. It is a fairly new city - less than 50 years old! Because it is a new city, the parks, streets, and everything else is kept very clean, organized, and pretty - and this includes Jinchuan Park. The park's life centers around a man-made lake in the far end of the park. Around the lake, there are statues of the 12 Zodiac animals, benches, pagodas, and artfully arranged shrubs and trees. A night the pagodas light up, and the lights themselves give life to the park at night. There are local traditional opera singers that perform there, older people do Tai Chi and play Erhu - it's a great place! There are not a lot of foreigners in this city, and it's not really a "touristy" city, so, for all intents and purposes, it's a completely local place. If you're in Jinchang, check it out! See more..

Songmingyan National Park itself is nice if you go pass the point where the tourists stop. You can go hiking to 4000 meters peaks and through green, beautiful forests. Avoid the resort outside the park, or don't if you're into kitch "luxury" hotel rooms, stupid activities like grass skiing or campfire with burned plastic chairs in a parking lot. See more..

其实算不上什么景点，不过那附近的风景真的没的说，一路过来山坡草原，我和朋友那会中午搭车去马牙雪山，晚上便沿着道徒步路回天祝县城，晚上走在山间，星空璀璨，夜路上车辆特别少，山间牧民很多，听着融雪汇成的潺潺小溪，远处偶尔传来的几声狗吠，抬头借月光远眺远方雪山，漫步在路旁，确实挺有感觉的 See more..

腊子口景区我们原本是打算游览一下的。
然而路过这儿，把车停路边，下车看了看，感觉有些光秃秃的，所以就在路边随手拍了两张，就当做到此一游，打卡完毕啦。

这儿本身就是一个红色旅游景区，所以我也就没多大兴趣啦。
看了下景区环境感觉并不是那么风景秀丽，所以就临时决定不深入进去参观啦。

This park is in the northeast of Zhangye and can easily be reached with a taxi for 4 RMB (or by walking in about 45 min from the centre of town). In the past it appears that it was a large, natural wetland. About one year ago it was "upgraded" to a large lake within a park planted with trees. A nice place to go jogging or have a relaxed walk away from the busy city and all the historic sites. See more..
