敦煌最有代表性的人物形象,絲路美女能歌善舞的標準姿勢,在敦煌市區的中心圓環。可想見以前的輝煌。反彈琵琶的美女最能代表絲路的輝煌燦爛形象。you can see the ancient beauty who dances and plays music with a very difficult position. this is telling about the glorious history about this silk road. See more..
  2. 3.0 White Horse Pagoda of Dunhuang (28 reviews)
    - Great place for a quiet picnic.

A taxi should only cost 20 Kuai, but it really isn't that far out of town for a walk. The street is marked with an English sign, and you can see some of the rural aspects of life in Dunhuang, like mountains of corncobs drying in the sun. It's 15 Kuai to get in, and it's very peaceful. We enjoyed the sun and ate on one of the many benches around. One tourist arrived while we were there. Nice picnic location. See more..
  3. 4.5 Yulin Grotto (21 reviews)
    - Worthwhile stop
    Thursday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Caverns & Caves • Monuments & Statues
    Yulin Grotto image
A nice stop , worth visiting grottoes without the massive crowds of Mogao- you will likely be alone. Not as comprehensive or as impressive as Mogao but still quite amazing. Most of the caves are redone by Ming dynasty but original sculpture bases from Tang and Song can be observed and the paintings are generally in good shape as well, with a fair number from the Western Xia period. Tour will cover about 6-7 caves and last about 1 hr. About a 2.5 hr drive from Dunhuang, so if you are on the way to or from the town it makes sense to visit but would not advise going if you are in Dunhuang already- the Mogao will be more than sufficient and you will likely feel the long drive was not worth it. We happened to past this temple yesterday while travelling from Lanzhou to Xiahe....there was a huge pilgrims gathering in the temple and surrounding fields. After being dropped to Xiahe we headed back to the festival in local taxi we picked on the road (32km /100 rmb return trip and wait for around 3 hrs)...It is beautiful temple and friendly monks invited us to see the ceremonies....later we had walked through the camping site and have an brief insight in nomads lifes....on any other day, this monastery would make a nice stop for few hours. If in area, give it a go! See more..
