    Even though the seas were too rough to swim - red flags out and authorities monitoring - Non Nuoc beach is still worth a visit. My hotel (Sheraton Grand) was on this beach. During the Vietnam War, a U.S. Air Force and Marine base was located at the very peak of "Son Tra Mountain" and it was known as the "Monkey Mountain Facility". The name - "Monkey Mountain" - derives from the many many monkeys living then in "Son Tra Mountain". Today, not so many monkeys are seen in its green trails, as they moved deep into the forest. But the attractive scenary is still there! It's made in the whitest of white material and easy to see from a long way off. The statue is the highest Bodhisattva of Mercy statue in Vietnam; 17-meters in diameter and has 17 floors.
