- 5.0 Kampirtepa (6 reviews)
-Forgotten town-museum
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins
Discovered in 1972, Kampir-Tepa (a.k.a. Kafir-Kala) is the ruins of fortress on the right bank of Amu-Darya River, 20 miles away from Termez. The remaining of what used to be a large settlement founded in 3 century B.C. Some historians claim that there is even an evidence that the troops of the Alexander the Great crossed the Amu-Darya river right in this place. The ruins you see is three-quarters of the settlement. The remaining part scheduled to be excavated and explored in near future. See more..

-Very interesting, but only for those who are light on their feet.
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Religious Sites
This is a very interesting site, where you can explore for hours, but make sure to wear good solid walking shoes, and comfortable clothing, as the terrain is only for the sure footed and you will get dusty and dirty. Well worth it though. See more..
- 5.0 Babatag Range (1 review)
-Breathtaking landscapes and a scenic road along the Bobotog mountain range
Spent More than 3 hours Mountains
The road from Denow heading south-east towards Gora Zakasa is of breathtaking beauty that leads through pistachio forests and unbelievable rock formations. It is a very dry, desert-like landscape with colors ranging from brown, orange, red to turquoise. If you go there around April, you will see everything in bloom. In summer it can be quite hot. Best times to go there are between March - May and September - December The road winds along the ridge of the hills and is itself worth going to the area - especially for people on a motorcycle. You can drive all the way to the highest part of the ridge and look into Tajikistan on the other side. The pistachio trees are sometimes more than 300 years old. Uzbekistan has around 33.000 ha of pistachio forest. The majority of which is located south-east of Denow. Take this point as reference: 38.112381, 68.198593 It will take you around 30 minutes from Denow to enter the range. See more..

A large blue reservoir that is open for swimming and watersports and a reasonable but small beach area for sunbathing and enjoying the hot summer days. - 4.0 Sairob Plane Trees (1 review)
-Gigantic plane trees in a delightful setting
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
The village of Sairob, in the municipality of Boysun, is famous for two specimens of plane trees, gigantic and very old. It is very easy to reach the village if you take highway 39: in the section between Derbent and Termiz a detour (on the right for those coming from the north and on the left for those coming from the south) takes you after a few tens of meters to the village. In the center of the village, the two plane trees overlook the town square on one side - enlivened by some market stalls - and a beautiful park adjacent to the stream on the other. Rising at the foot of karst mountains, the streams of the valley enjoy a relatively constant flow, which has favored the growth of these trees. As in the case of the even more famous plane trees in Urgut, the mighty trunks of the trees, being hollow, have been used by men for a long time. In particular, one of Sayrob's two plane trees was also used as a classroom. For the presence of plane trees, but also for the deliciously cool climate, this spot is very appreciable. See more..
- 4.0 Termez Mosque (1 review)
-New Central Mosque
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites
The Mosque is located opposite a round-a-bout at a very busy area where three roads intersect. The main streets at this location include Mekhrldarya Street, Shimoli Darvaza Street and Beruni Street. The mosque is the biggest in town and it's main features are the minarets on either side and the large green dome. The iwan is decorated with blue tiles and has Persian script at the top. The area within the arch was also decorated with blue tiles and had double doors. The minarets were independent of the structure, and were eight sided with arched windows just below the green dome shaped caps. We passed this area a few times, but never got the opportunity to go inside the mosque. It is worth a quick stop, as it is a great photo op. We had heard that a Silk Road museum was opposite the mosque on Shimoli Darvaza Street, but didn't get a chance to investigate this. Buses are available to the right of the mosque to head back to the town center. See more..
- 4.0 Clock Tower (1 review)
-A landmark in the city
Friday: 12:00 AM - 10:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
The clock tower is located at the intersection of Termez and Alisher Navoi Streets. It is a landmark in the city which has existed from Soviet times. The clock is grey with a cream clock face on each sides. It didn't appear to be working properly, as the two clock faces which we saw had different times. This area is the center of the city, and has quite a few banks and hotels nearby. The clock is not a must see, but in a town of few attractions is worth a photo. The central park and museum are a 1 km walk north on Termez Street. If you walk south on Termez Street for 10 minutes, the site of the old Russian Fort can be viewed on your left. We had hoped to visit the site of the fort which was recently demolished, but there was work going on to lay out a new Park and we couldn't gain access. See more..
- 4.0 Train Station (1 review)
-Interesting Station
Friday: 12:00 AM - 10:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Architectural Buildings
We visited Termez by taking an overnight train spending the day viewing attractions and then returning to Tashkent by overnight train. The Train Station is in the northern section of town, which is also known as the "old" town. There are many transport options here, as buses and taxis are usually opposite the train station. We thought that the train station was similar in design to the Tashkent north station with many blue glass windows. We had heard that the security here was quite strict, but had no problems. The station was originally built in the 1920's when the first railway line was built to Termez. The line ran from Amudarya To Termez, creating a rail link through the southern section of the country in 1925. The following year, a line was run in a northerly direction to facilitate a connection between Termez and Fergana. The Termez to Qurgonteppa (southern Tajikistan) line was completed in 1974. The historic connection in 2011 to the Mazar-i-Sharif railway (in Afghanistan), facilitates a 70km track from Termez, over the Friendship Bridge, through Hairatan to Mazar-i-Sharif. This is a dedicated cargo line which is very important to both countries. The train station is the southern dividing line between the old town and new city. Some of the exhibits on display in the Archaeological museum were found at the site of the train station. If you walk south into town, the central park and museum are within walking distance. If you decide to use the overhead bridge and walk north east of the railway station, this is the old town area, and includes Kirk Kiz Fortress, Sultan Saodat Mausoleum and Kokildor-Ota Khanaka. - 4.0 Monument to the Grieving Mother (1 review)
-WW2 monument
Friday: 12:00 AM - 10:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
The Monument to the Grieving Mother is located in Central Park. It is probably easier to access it by walking on Alisher Navoi Street and entering through the northern section of the Park. The monument area is well maintained with lawns and flowers nearby. The grieving mother sculpture is in a brown tiled area which also has an eternal flame area, which was not lit. On either side of the sculpture, are walls of memory. These areas are covered and have sculpted wooden columns. There are six "books" on each wall which have the names of the fallen in WW2 in alphabetical order, and the years of their lives. On the perimeter tiled wall behind the monument, were the words, "You are always in our heart. My dear" in gold letters. We were surprised that these inscriptions were in English, as usually only Uzbek language is used. These grieving mother sculptures are in every major city in Uzbekistan. During WW2, Uzbekistan sent 1.4 million soldiers and 330,000 didn't return. It is estimated that civilian deaths as a result of the war were over 200,000. With less importance being placed on WW2 since independence, we were happy to see this monument so well maintained, and hope that the eternal flame will be lit and constantly burn in the future. We were surprised that given the proximity of Afghanistan, there was no Afghan memorial in the park. Other attractions nearby include the Alpamysh monument, a short walk east to the Park center, and a further stroll east, is the Archaeological museum. See more..

- 3.5 Church of Aleksandr Nevskiy (6 reviews)
-Muted
Spent < 1 hour Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
About a block and a half from our hotel, the Church of Aleksandr Nevesky in Termez was part of the Russian Orthodox system in the region built in the twentieth century. Not really a spectacular place visually but a place of worship nonetheless, we spent a moment saying a few prayers and admiring the muted tones inside, nothing flashy at all which is nice. See more..
