this family owned studio is full of beautiful intricate pieces, as it has two rooms held as a museum of ceramics. here is a great place to see work in progress, watching masters create their one of a kind ceramic master pieces. the full process of clay turning into an art unfolds before your eyes. in the summer you can take workshops, learning from how to distinguish between different types of clay, what plants are good for which dyes, to developing your own skills in painting. the atmosphere in the studio is extremely friendly. you know that you are dealing with artists, not traders that are trying to make a profit. these people are in love with what they do, and you can sense it. master Rustam is very charming, ready to share stories of his artist friends, his son Damir is there to help answer any of your questions. Rustam has a little tasteful library in one of the studios, you know that you deal with intelligencia - rare class that is harder and harder to find nowadays. we were beyond delighted to get some platters there that we hand-carried back to another continent with joy, happy to score such great pieces! i'd love to go back to the studio to do workshops!! really loved it! Obviously this is a very touristic attraction, so expect high prices. But there are real artists here at work and the craftsmanship is exquisite. These skills date back thousands of years and are the true remnants of The Silk Road - it is important they are preserved. So visit the place, admire and support. See more..

No tourists in this market ! This is a real Central Asian bazaar, where the locals shop for ikat fabric and clothing. So much choice, overwhelming maze of shops and stalls - a photographers delight. It is difficult to distinguish between the different materials, but nothing is expensive. Don't rush through. Only built in the late 19th century, the palace was the opulent seat of power of the last ruler/Khan of the Kokand Khanate. Then the Bolsheviks demolished 90 % of it, leaving only the facade and a few rooms ; a lot of restorations later, you now see a replica of the throne. It is still worth visiting and admire rich ornaments, timber ceilings and ceramic tiles. See more..

Little old building with calm and serene atmosphere. Beautiful garden makes a place shady and comfortable to make a break after long road. Among masters are must to see block printing with unique combination of natural dyers including sup, mungo beans, cotton seed oil and rust of a iron. Also I think felt in combination of silk is very interesting and special experience. Overall it is worth in reality to spend some time there! See more..
