A wonderful trip. Excellent, experienced guide Leigh Lubin made a huge impact on the overall enjoyment of the itinerary. We saw lots of animals and majestic scenery. Highlights included the 6 mile sea kayak to the Aleiska glacier....winds were kicking up and the skies were spitting so the paddling was challenging before we got to the icebergs! I felt as though I was in a National Geographic film most of the time. Kenai Peninsula Glacier Lodge is a gem, tucked away with each cabin having its own view of the lagoon, its island and the glacier that formed them. What a treat to finally be able to see Denali our last night when we got to take a small plane flight from Denali Backcountry Lodge. Alaska is a huge place and AWA constructed an efficient way for its guests to see many significant parts of it. I highly recommend it! See more..

Kacey is fantastic! If you want an intimate ride down the river then this is the way to do it. The raft accommodated 6 guests which really allowed us all to be comfortable and get the most out of Kacey’s expert navigation and engaging stories about the river. 1/2 Day Fishing the Kenai River with J.J. We got lucky, we didn't know any guides so we left it up to the company. We fished with J.J. and it couldn't have turned out any better. All 4 of us were pretty much river fishing novices, JJ was a great instructor and has patience and knows what he's doing. Very laid back but constantly teaching and notices everything going on around him on the river. We caught 9 Sockeye in a short amount of time, lost as many but had the time of our lives out there. JJ knows where to find the fish and knows the best techniques, he's energetic and active, great with the net and will chase your fish way downstream if necessary. Highly recommend this trip, next time will be a full day, with JJ. Take a trip with JJ, you will not be disappointed. See more..

We did the full day rafting and gold panning adventure. And this was an ADVENTURE — the raft dropped us and a guide off on a little island where we hiked on a thickly wooded moose trail and forded a creek (they give you waders!) to get to the gold panning site. And this is no touristy little gold panning — it’s hard work and the real deal! Our guide, Mike, was so knowledgeable and fun. My kids (10, 12, and 14) had a blast. The river float was also beautiful, the scenery is unreal and our rafting guide Tom was so knowledgeable and patient. My one caveat would be that although the website makes this sound like a low-key outing, the gold panning portion is actually quite physically demanding, so I would not recommend it for very young kids or people who don’t have a basic level of physical fitness. That said, we are no backwoodsmen — just some regular suburbanites — and we had the time of our lives! See more..

My family has been visiting the town of Cooper Landing for many years and we always book at least one evening fishing trip for when we are there! John and Heather both do a great job making us feel welcome. John is very knowledgeable and loves to share stories, answer any questions, and help you catch as many fish as possible! John knows all of the hot spots and was able to get a limit of salmon for me and my wife even when we were there more than a week before "prime" fishing! We will definitely be going back. The rest of the town is great too. Lots of fun and friendly people, great food and drinks at any of the restaurants and bars in the area. The views never get old! See more..

Booked with Dave last minute and he was completely accommodating. He led us on a personalized tour onto the river to a spot with not too much traffic. My brother, nephew and I went out with Mike Adams two full day trips on the middle Kenai and the upper Kenai. On the he middle we caught several trout, a Dolly Varden and a few Sockeye. We were in between runs on the Kenai and had to work for the salmon but Mike’s knowledge and expertise got us on some fish. We brought home 30lbs of Sockeye and we’re thrilled to do so. Wow! Alaska troutfitters was AMAZING! We did a guided fly out with Sam. He was perfect. I am not very experienced so he gave me tips and pointers along the way without being pushy. My husband (who is much more experienced) was given Alaska specific guidance and advanced techniques. We caught loads of Grayling and had an unforgettable day on the water. We also rented gear from the fly shop for the next two days. Sam and those in the shop have us great tips and suggested hike in fishing holes. All proved to be great recommendations. My grandson and I had a great experience with Prospector John and assistant, Mike. We did the actual gold "mining" experience where we hiked into the woods and learned about gold mining and experienced a little bit of what prospectors go through in their quest for gold. Our guide and his assistant were fun and kept us safe on our journey and it was lots of fun. I would highly recommend this activity keeping in mind it is an active trip so take into account when booking. My grandson and I both did well though and no problems. Guarantee the best fishing guides ever. Travis and Lori are so accommodating and kind. It's clear they are doing what they love and love doing what they do. We went to the Kenai for the salmon run and Travis took us out to the secret spots. When no one else was catching fish - WE WERE because he understood the migration and the flow of the fish and the tides. I thought fishing was as easy as tossing a hook in the water - it can be - but if you're serious about catching a fish he can show you some techniques to really maximize your catch! In our group of 12 people, we had everything from 5 to 71 years old and experts to novice fishermen... EVERYONE was happy and came away from that experience thrilled; our trip was saved because of Travis and Lori. I will be taking my daughter back for ice fishing in March. Family friendly adventure!!! Family was visiting Alaska from California. We were in Cooper Landing and called Erick. Good decision! Erick provided us with things to do before our fishing adventure. During our day on the river, Erick was a great guide. He gave us plenty of opportunities to catch fish and explained a good deal about the history of the area. He cleaned a trout for us and showed us what the fish had been feeding on, giving us a little history lesson to boot. We drove from hurricane ridge to crescent lake for the hike through old growth Forrest and to the water fall. The track is easy about a three mile round trip, it gets steep as you approach the falls, but worth the effort. The trees both Douglas firs and western red cedars are spectacular very big and grand, a must see. The lake is one of the very best clean, inviting and calm the day we were there. We did a kayak trip on the lake - think Ren was our guide. The owners were very friendly and flexible with us about booking but they seemed to have limited kayaks so book early. Kenai lake is phenomenal and we had great weather, calm waters - saw many salmon and just enjoyed being out in nature with almost no one around - good for the soul. Ren was helpful to us when we got stuck and shared stories, took pictures etc. We paced ourselves with younger kids and enjoyed views which are breathtaking. We have hiked Skyline trail a couple times as a family. We had a 2yo and 4yo with us. We live in the area and we do alot of hiking as a family. We made a deal with our 4yo if she hiked up I would carry her down in the hiking backpack, and my wife "wore" our 2yo up and back. The trail is on the harder side but we stopped often. The pay off at the top really is worth the effort. You can see the mountains to the front and left of you and the "flats" out towards the right. Our 4yo fulfilled her side of the deal and hiked all the way up, and I fulfilled mine (won't make that deal again) Haha. Good hike, could see it being a little extra difficult if trial is wet. We did this hike to the upper falls during our time in Cooper Landing. This is an easy 5.2 miles (out & back) hike with beautiful falls at the end. Parking can be difficult - so I recommend coming early. Others we passed saw a bear and 3 cubs - but we missed them. We had booked the full day walk-in / wade-out on the Russian River to fish for King salmon. Unfortunately, due to the King salmon being way behind expected arrival times and a ban on catching and keeping any Kings we felt this would be a useless trip. The owner was pleasant and worked with us to find a suitable solution. We agreed on a partial refund and a 1/2 day fishing excursion on the Kenai. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Had several trout on the line, but couldn't land them.
