Amazing fly out and rentals.
Wow! Alaska troutfitters was AMAZING! We did a guided fly out with Sam. He was perfect. I am not very experienced so he gave me tips and pointers along the way without being pushy. My husband (who is much more experienced) was given Alaska specific guidance and advanced techniques. We caught loads of Grayling and had an unforgettable day on the water. We also rented gear from the fly shop for the next two days. Sam and those in the shop have us great tips and suggested hike in fishing holes. All proved to be great recommendations. Friendly, professional, and just the right amount of guidance. Want to return in a few years and we will definitely go through Troutfitters again!

Mend it…..
Tom was an excellent guide for a beautiful, unique day of floating and fishing. We learned multiple different fly fishing techniques and he physically worked hard to make it a successful trip, and truly seemed excited when we hooked a trout. Definitely near the top of any outfitter I’ve ever used…. And the ambience doesn’t even need explaining.

A float trip and two nights in the Eagles Nest lodging
The float trip was very pleasant and quite chill. The lodging was nice, except the Eagles Nest is in the same building/house as two other units, one of which is too close for my comfort - down a flight of stairs with only a curtain to separate the units. This would be ideal for groups wanting to reserve both spaces, but is a little disconcerting when the other space is rented by strangers. We experienced a lot of noise from the adjacent guests, including a very loud toddler one night and morning, as well as a bunch of fisherman on the other night and morning. It was not possible to ignore the noise from either set of guests. All of this leads me to say that I would not stay in this room again, preferring a unit with no neighbors so close. The hosts of this property are great and easy to deal with.
