Hidden Gems Places To Visit in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand
- 5.0 Nagi of Mekong Cruise (92 reviews)
-Highlight of my trip
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Boat Tours
If you consider doing the cruise I can absolutely recommend doing it! The best part is that you are going to meet other travellers of all age groups and from all over the world and at the end of the cruise they are going to feel like family. It was absolutely worth paying the extra money because it will be much more comfortable, you will be served very tasty food and it includes an accomodation. In addition to that you will learn many things about Lao culture and history during your cruise and make interesting stops along the way. Generally it is a beautiful way to travel Laos and time is going to fly by as the views get better and better. Thank you for the flawless experience. See more..

Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
My most enduring memory of Thailand is this wonderful experience. The botanical gardens are truly beautiful and the museum recently added to the grounds bring emotional tears to the eye with an amazing insight into the country's history. As a farang luckily married to the most beautiful local girl I just simply love this visiting place as often as I can. See more..

-Stunning During Sunset
Religious Sites
This was a quick stop at the end of our 1 day guided tour around Chiang Rai. The wat was quiet and rustic - seemingly untainted from modernity and commercialisation, unlike many other wats. It was stunning during sunset. See more..

Speciality Museums
While the admission fee may seem expensive and from outside, the place may seem small, there is actually a lot to see. The place is never crowded and the guide was friendly and informative. Worth a visit. See more..
- 4.5 Doi Chang (61 reviews)
-Lovely mountain views, with great coffee house at the top
Mountains • Farms
From Chiang Rai take road number '1' for around 20 km South, and turn right on to road '118' sign posted to Mae Suai. Around 3km short of Mae Suai, you will see a small tuning right to Doi Chang. This is a very windy road, which turns do dirt track in places. We hired a 250cc trial bike, which made the journey easy. The mountain views were spectacular, especially when we reached cloud level. I will try and add some photos. Right at the top of the mountain, you will come across the factory of Doi Chaang coffee. Along the way you will also see the coffee being grown along the mountain tops. A different spelling of the mountain, but great place to visit. They have an academy, museum, and in peak season tours. Great coffee house which has done one of the best coffee lattes I have ever tasted. We thouroughy enjoyed our trip to Doi Chang, and plan to go back again. Not easy to find, as so many coffee shops called Doi Chaang coffee house, but the original is on top of Doi Chang mountain itself. See more..

A wonderful and relaxing experience. Beautiful and peaceful trails and grounds. The Meditation Hall is large. Many statues around the grounds. There is an Art Museum, Restaurant, and Coffee Shop. The high point was actually meeting Monk V. Vachiredhi. He has published over 20 books, is an artist, a close friend of the Dalai Lama, and has met with the Pope. One can stay at the center and take meditation sessions. Worth the visit. See more..

- 4.5 Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan (31 reviews)
-Something different
Religious Sites
We came here on the way to other temples and wasn’t disappointed. The place mixes some modern themes with traditional. (See photos) There are places to eat outside the temple which was cheap and good food, there is somewhere to eat and drink in the temple too. The temple itself was spectacular and the statues and bells made it enjoyable to visit too. See more..
