    AMAZING
My favorite place in all Thailand and probably in south Asia ! Informations are incredible, the architecture is fabulous (I say This as a parisian girl !). Moreover it's free ! Don't Miss that place. I feel nostalgic of French Monarchy when I see This place. DO NOT HESITATE.

    Interesting
If you are making a trip of it from Chiang Rai (or wherever your holiday base is) to the Mae Fan Luang gardens or the Doi Tung Royal Villa this more recent addition to the royal estate is worth a visit. Basically it's about the Mahidol family, which has provided the current king of Thailand and his two predecessors, and their activities. And there is no doubt they have done a lot over the generations to improve the lot of people in Siam/Thailand as the impressive and detailed displays show. One criticism: there's nowhere to sit down on the one-way walk-through so if you're elderly, tired, or just want a rest while contemplating the contents you're going to be disappointed. Visitors should have their rest at the nearby café before starting the tour, and those with health issues who will need to stop and rest might like to rethink their visit. Bonus point: If you wish to impress Thais with your knowledge, you can get credit by pronouncing Mahidol correctly: you say it "Mahidon".
