Было интересно побродить по руинам столь древнего города. Место живописное, неподалёку от моря. Можно совместить с поездкой на пляж. Работники музея были очень гостеприимны и угостили фруктами See more..

    Salah el-Din Citadel image
The Arabic name of the site is Sahyun, the equivalent to Zion which was later renamed to the politically correct name of Qal'at Salah Al-Din. It was originally built to guard the route between Latakia and the city of Antioch. Now enough talking about the history of the Citadel and let's talk about how beautiful is it and if it's worth visiting or not. It definitely worth visiting , as it's so quite and peaceful - you'll have to ask the locals there to guide you to it - not taken care of much , but it's still beautiful and historic as it should. 3. 4.5 Saladin Castle (8 reviews)
    - Power of wisdom
    Castles
    Saladin Castle image
Saladin Castle is one of many glorious historical objects of mighty ancient Syria. Built between two river and on the top of the mountain, Crusaders thought that nobody can conquer this fortress. The site's landscape and nature around the castle is absolutely marvellous. Alredy the drive with minivan's from the opposite side of the river up and down by serpentine road to the castle is attraction itself. And when You arrive to the foot of the castle, You feel the power of castle and sence the work, that has been done here to seperate the castle from outside world - the moat around the castle has been cut through sandstone and is approximately 40 m deep. More than 100 step-stair leads You to the gate of the castle, but getting in top of the castle is well worth of Your effort. Assumingly unconquerable fortress however had its weak spot. By cuting the watersupply, clever sultan of Syria - Saladin - took the castle without any human loss and proved that wisdom is the greatest power. See more..

Nice village 600 m above sea level, a little cooler than sticky Lattakia in summer, situated right next to the turkish border. Armenian majority in the village, which is probably why everything's tidy... Try to go up the Mount Cassius (Djebel Kassioun), the summit is on the turkish side, but you'll be able to enjoy the view southwards, on clear days, you can spot Lattakia and Tartous. Try also to go to Samra, just south of the border on the coast, there is a cafe overlooking the bay and the border, the place is gorgeous. But you'll need a guide for Mt. Cassius and Samra.
