Probably the best place you can go in Ulan-Ude if you are short on time and have to decide, this is the most worth it. A beautiful temple up in a hill where you can wonder around a long path and clean your soul. The place is just wonderful and very spiritual. You can take beautiful pictures here as well and locals are very tolerant of foreigners as long as you show some respect. The views from the top are something else. See more..

Actually, NOT at the Drama Theatre, but at the Musical Theatre, which is not listed on Trip Advisor! I saw Verdi's Aida, a touring production from Ulan Ude, which was not only superbly sung, and quite well played, it was imaginatively and luxuriously designed in traditional style. The theatre is clearly Soviet in style, as are the prices. I paid the equivalent of £3 for an excellent seat. GO!! See more..

Just wander across the pedestrian bridge to the island and you will find excellent facilities. For the Universiade there were lodas of quite excellent ice scupltures, but a lot more. Back in October '19 I had the pleasure of going on a 1 day tour to Olkhon Island, departing from Irkutsk, together with 3 other female friends of mine, during our Trans-Siberian journey. I was here last summer, but now I want to write a review about that amazing place! I was here with my friends. At the beginning we bought tickets. I can say that prices are high enough, but you will get a lot of positive emotions. There were many people in the zoo, because it was holiday. What about animals. You can see a lot of animals , because zoo is enormous. But, you wouldn’t find out elephants and hippos. We couldn’t see monkeys as their cells were closed! If you want you can feed some animals. You simply have to buy feed for them. If you want to see dinosaurs, you can go to the second zoo! It is also rather interesting place. There are some attractions for children. If you want to drink or eat you can buy food or drink, but when my friends and I were eating in cafe, our food was disgusting( But I can recommend that zoo for visiting See more..

What is BABR? In Russian it is .. БАБР. BABR is a sculpture of a mythological monster that sits at the entry walkway into the Irkutsk area known as the 130 Kvartal shopping / restaurant district. BABR is a beloved-by-Irkutsk residents symbol of the city. BABR is on its coat-of-arms. BABR is a mythological genetic combination of a Siberian Tiger with a Beaver. BABR has a flat beaver-tail and webbed Tiger paws. Seeing BABR and the entire Irkutsk 130 Kvartal shopping / restaurant district stands fairly high upon almost anyone's must-see must-visit attractions. It was so high on my list of attractions-to-review that it has only taken me 6-full-months of living here that I have finally gotten around to writing this review. Then again I can say the same about Kirov Square and its myriad of attractions that I finally have reviewed. Seeing BABR is a 5-minute affair.
