Things to do & places to visit in Luzon, Philippines

Luzon cover image
The biggest island in the Philippines, Luzon is also one of the most diverse—it’s where mountain peaks and volcanoes meet miles of coastline, and indigenous culture melds with Spanish colonial history. You can relax at the beach in Pagudpud, hike with locals up the Batad Rice Terraces, ride in a horse-drawn carriage in Vigan, and snack on street food and dance the night away in Manila. You’ll need a few days and a bus pass, but you’ll be glad you stayed.

Luzon #2 destination in Philippines 2023. The average rating score is 4.11 based on 65.6k traveler reviews, of 210 attractions. Timezone: Asia/Manila, current date and time: Wednesday, May 08, 2024, 7:13.

  1. 5.0 Batad Rice Terraces (693 reviews)
    - Really amazing
    Historic Walking Areas
    Batad Rice Terraces image
Must see! Built thousands of years ago and still being used today. Color of the rice terraces depend on the time of year. Take a tricycle to Batad from Banaue, hire a guide or not. We didn't hire a guide and just took the most worn trail, you can see where most the people are going or coming from. I think a guide can be useful to tell a little about the history and the customs of the local people in addition to taking the best trails. Be ready for a good day of moderate to difficult trekking. Enjoy a meal of local cuisine and rice at several restaurants and cafes while enjoying the view. See more..

If you need high end shopping, there GB3 and GB5 for you... need some low to mid end shopping and cheaper alternatives to food, there's GB1 for you, GB3 serves the mid-high range of food prices... all in all, everything you need can be found here. Had a fun time there too getting several picture from the museum and his overlooking mountain view. Actually for me the mountain view there was undeniably one of the main seller. It was just majestic, and had experience a balanced view, not to bright and foggy! Also, luckily when we went there we saw BenCab having a good chat with one of his great friend (Ms Tessa Prieto). Our guides were two lovely young ladies who are studying Tourism. Their knowledge and courtesy made the tour very enjoyable. We spent approx 40 mins with them, touring the site and learning the history of the Philippines, specifically related to The Church of San Agustin. We had the good fortune to witness a wedding. 25. 4.0 Robinsons Place Mall (1.017 reviews)
    - Great shopping
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Shopping Malls
    Robinsons Place Mall image
This shopping centre continues to easily meet the needs of most. My favourite is the Robinsons supermarket, although I don't like the queues at busier times at the attended checkouts. They don't sufficiently trust Filipinos to have self-service checkouts. The Robinsons department store is also quite good while the range of restaurants is very pleasing. Toilets tend to be on the upper levels but given this mall is built 'up' not 'out', they're an easy walk away. Cheap barbers and hairdressers are in the complex. Way better value than in Australia, the UK or Europe! Airconditioning works well and there are many hotels nearby in Ermita together with legitimate massage and (best of all) foot spas. My feet were wrecked from an enormous amount of walking in the UK and Europe but after a one hour foot scrub opposite Robinsons, they felt 500 per cent better. See more..

    Resorts World Manila image
Although it’s a magnet for casino lovers, there are also a myriad of activities for those who will not play at the casino. Although I don’t play casino, I just took a look of the casino floor. It’s vast and high-end, and taking photos is prohibited. The complex has restaurants and shopping, where the prices are exponentially high if you compare to other parts of Manila. Many of the people who come here are tourists and overseas Filipinos. The vicinity around the area has a European feel, and it has several high-end hotels, which offer a convenient place to stay for travelers. See more..
