An experience worth taking...
I have heard that calle crisologo is a must for anyone visiting Vigan. I am personally happy that I did. The said calle or street is just a house away from Ciudad Fernandina were we are billeted. I am just lucky to see the many "faces" of the street from early morning till late at night. The street is lined up with shops,restaurants, hotel and a museum. The best time to visit is early morning around 9am although some shops open early around 8am specially during the holiday season or around 4pm when the street is starting to come to life. Around 6pm restaurants will line up tables on the street itself. The street is clean but visitors can show more respect to keep it that way. We can see some trash here and there specially in the area where max restaurant, mang inasal and cafe leona area are located since this is near plaza salcedo. The price of the souvenirs are reasonably priced. You can choose from key chains 12pcs.for a 100 pesos, small coin purse for 25pesos each or foldable fan regular size 3 pcs. for 100 pesos or t shirts for 150 pesos to 500 pesos from Collado, a brand well known in Vigan or from island souvenirs or from any shops. The prices of the food is also reasonable. You can decide for yourselves depending on your budget. You can also hire a caritela to take you around vigan up to bantay, the town just outside vigan for 150 pesos per hour. It was worth the walk...

Well-preserved Spanish district
Calle Crisologo remains as the main tourist destination of Ilocos Sur. It is gradually recovering from the negative impact of COVID-19 as the Ilocos region opens its doors to domestic tourists and visitors are now flocking to the place once again. It's always a pleasure to walk along its cobblestone covered street, admire the old ancestral houses along the way, and look for souvenirs at the shops at almost every corner of the street. Learn how to haggle, though. The best time to visit this place is either early in the morning or in late afternoon when it's not that hot anymore. However, expect to see more people at this time. Btw if you are after old ancestral houses, you'll find them also along the streets parallel to Calle Crisologo. The only difference is that only Calle Crisologo is closed to motorized vehicles while the other streets are not. Only horse-drawn carriages or "calesas" are allowed to ply the route, which gives it a more old Spanish feel. Also try the various eateries there and satisfy your craving for authentic Ilocano dishes. Lastly, remember that museums and mansions in Vigan are closed to the public on Mondays.
