Throughly enjoyed my experience at the museum, crazy vintage car collection, their kings definitely have a taste for fine things. I also did some shopping in the FNL shop at the museum, very good prices and chic designs of casual wear. The sales person Mustafa was very friendly and extremely helpful. He took time to explain the inscriptions in Arabic on the clothing items. See more..

Al Balad – Downtown Amman image
Soak up the Orient Vivid, colourful, exotic, smells of spices, roasted nuts, chestnuts, corn and dozens of stalls selling sweets, confectioners, ice cream, toys on one side and shops on the other, selling souvenirs, clothes, fresh juices, parfumes, shining gold shops., cafés, restaurants, old buildings... Al Balad is a busy place, full of people and cars. Strangely enough, all this hustle and bustle is a kind of relaxing. Do not miss The Duke's Diwan - the oldest building in the heart of Amman, Roman theatre, Hashem restaurant, king Faisal avenue with beautiful tall palm trees. Enjoy during the day, also at night See more..
  14. 4.5 Things to Do in Amman Governorate (467 reviews)
    - Great fun!
    Bodies of Water
Things to Do in Amman Governorate image
My husband and young adult daughters did this hike in June and said it was a highlight of the trip to Jordan. They got soaked and had the best time! The bonus was the natural “fish spa” which left them with smooth feet at the end (the fish nibbled their feet and legs the entire time)! You need to be in reasonable shape to do this. Climbing up the waterfalls was sometimes tricky and they saw people turning around. The water was over their heads for a lot of it and quite rushing. Lifejackets are mandatory. Tips: arrive early – they took a taxi from our Dead Sea hotel at 7:30 to arrive right at 8 am when it opened and had the trail to themselves the entire time except at the end when they ran into people arriving as they were leaving. Having more people on the trail and having to wait to go up waterfalls and ladders would have made the experience less fun. There seemed to be no lockers despite what I had read – just tiny cubbies for a phone or keys. They left their water bottles and phones with the driver who was waiting for them. They did not go in the change rooms though to see, but when they asked the man said no lockers. Sport sandals are totally fine – you do not need the water shoes that can be rented. And they said they did not need closed toes. My girls wore sport shorts and t-shirts and that was good – no need to cover up more than that. You do not need a guide – everything was do-able (some of it was challenging). There was one guide on a larger rock-slide to show the way. They took a go pro to capture photos. See more..
  15. 4.5 The Cave of the Seven Sleepers (165 reviews)
    - Cave of the 7 sleepers from Surah Kahf
Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
The Cave of the Seven Sleepers image
It was amazing to visit this place, I heard that many Islamic scholars such as Mufti Taqi Usmani have the opinion that this is the real site of the 7 sleepers as opposed to the site in Turkey, so our group had to visit to see for ourselves. The mosque close to the site is also very beautiful - small and simple but very well maintained and a nice place to stop for prayers if you are Muslim. See more..
  16. 4.5 Children's Museum (155 reviews)
    - A pleasant gem in West Amman
    Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Children's Museums
    Children's Museum image
This was a great museum to wrap up our family trip to Amman. The concept of the museum is a copy of the children's museum from the USA but with a Jordanian twist to it. The kids thoroughly enjoyed their time and got the chance to learn more about the biodiversity in Jordan, the local currency and the hajj holiday. A must see place for all travelers with small (and old) children See more..
  17. 4.5 Jabal Al Lweibdeh (152 reviews)
    - up and coming area
    Neighborhoods
    Jabal Al Lweibdeh image
This area is gradually taking over from Rainbow street as the place to visit for bars, restaurants, art galleries and just generally wandering around. The two streets that should be visited are located by Paris Square (which is actually a circle). The place really comes alive at night as there are few visitors before then. I really enjoyed the street art on walls and on buildings See more..
  18. 4.5 Roman Temple of Hercules (144 reviews)
    - Archaeological Marvel
    Ancient Ruins
    Roman Temple of Hercules image
This is a beautiful Roman Temple at the heart of the city. It is partially built, of course because it is old, and the area had so many earthquakes. They created a 3D image based on the areas and size of columns. Nevertheless, the few pieces that are erected keep the people coming. The level of detail is just amazing, and the size is also amazing. To have people thinking about such shapes and then have another group of people to carve them, this must have taken years and tens of years of discipline and hard work. Really a joyful walk and you can find so many designs and details. They have guides in all frequently used languages that you can hire for an hour tour and they can explain all the history of the area in your local language. See more..
  19. 4.5 Darat al Funun (90 reviews)
    - Enjoyable
    Art Galleries • Theaters
    Darat al Funun image
I don’t consider this a must see sight but I enjoyed it. They had a nice variety of art and also provided a good history of the buildings and their renovation. It’s not the most organized place. There was a guy who pointed me to the entry after my first attempt failed but there wasn’t anyone there who could answer questions. I would like to have seen more of the surrounding buildings but couldn’t figure out if it was possible or how to do it. No complaints about the price. It’s free. See more..
  20. 4.5 Dar Al-Anda Art Gallery (33 reviews)
    - It's a wonderful art gallery!
    Saturday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries
    Dar Al-Anda Art Gallery image
Founded in 1998, Dar Al-Anda is housed in two historic villas, originally built in Amman’s fabled Jabal Al-Weibdeh in the 1930’s. Whether you’re looking for fine art or simply looking to travel back in time through breathtaking views of Old Amman’s several rolling hills, as well as Roman and Ottoman ruins such as The Citadel and the Arc of Hercules, Dar Al-Anda is a quintessential cultural stop for first-time and returning visitors to Amman. 21. 4.5 Bethany Jordan River Baptism Site of Jesus (27 reviews)
    - Glorious Bethany
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Historic Sites • Religious Sites
Bethany Jordan River Baptism Site of Jesus image
It was a short journey from our hotel and our guide explained the site had only recently reopened. There is a strange feeling when you get off the bus, your whole body seems to pick up this is a special site. We walked for around 75 minutes overall seeing the Greek Orthodox Church, the museum but most importantly the part where John the Baptist baptised Our Lord. We witnessed a blind man being anointed at the spot and I longed for his sight to be restored. Apparently he was breaking the law but regardless I was rooting for him. Then we finished at the Jordan River, five yards from the Israel border where the people that side of the border seemed to be partying, maybe they were overwhelmed with joy! A wonderful place, don't miss it. See more..

You’d be a fool not to take advantage of this company. From the moment I started communicating with Mustafa in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt until the moment he dropped us off in Amman, Jordan, he was very helpful in every way! He was punctual, kind, bilingual (maybe trilingual?) honest and very helpful. He drove professionally and always had our best interest in mind. He went out of his way to accommodate our wishes such as, eating a good healthy lunch(my son particularly) and stopping at the Dead Sea so I could swim. Thank you once again! And if I ever go back to Jordan I will definitely get in touch! See more..

  25. 4.0 King Abdullah Mosque (493 reviews)
    - Picturesque mosque deserves a visit
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    King Abdullah Mosque image
This picturesque mosque is often referred to as the Blue Mosque, because of the blue tiles on its dome. The King Abdullah Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Jordan. Non-Muslims must enter through the gift shop, where women will be required to don a brown cape, with a hood that covers their hair. You may be required to pay a small entry fee. Non-believers may not be allowed to enter the mosque during prayer times, though no-one seems to bother much. Friday is the Muslim Holy Day; it might be best to avoid the mosque then. See more..
  26. 4.0 Qasr al-Kharrana (349 reviews)
    - Visited in dust Storm- a true shelter - Total Experience
Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins
    Qasr al-Kharrana image
This castle does not disappoint and it was a true shelter from a severe dust and wind storm. It is an Umayyad castle from the 8th century and once inside has been somewhat renovated. The owner of the land on which it stands is in the Bedouin tent next door. Very hospitable and try the chai tea. See more..

    Shopping Malls
    City Mall image
It is the place that sells food ingredients from the most diverse countries in Amman. The pizza there is excellent for the price. Korean food has been introduced since June. It's so good that it's easy to get. I hope more various ingredients will be sold in the future. In the same building, there are Starbucks, bookstores, toy shops, cheap clothes, and kitchen utensils that housewives like. It's a place where families can shop together. See more..

It is an opportunity to see a black and white mosque up close! This is as far as your experience will go. You will not be allowed in, neither will you see other attractions around. Take down the hill until you reach a bakery called “Zahrat Armenia”, it does amazing pasties most importantly Armenian Sfeeha (red meat and fresh tomatoes placed on a dough and cooked freshly in an oven).
