Great fun!

My husband and young adult daughters did this hike in June and said it was a highlight of the trip to Jordan. They got soaked and had the best time! The bonus was the natural “fish spa” which left them with smooth feet at the end (the fish nibbled their feet and legs the entire time)! You need to be in reasonable shape to do this. Climbing up the waterfalls was sometimes tricky and they saw people turning around. The water was over their heads for a lot of it and quite rushing. Lifejackets are mandatory. Tips: arrive early – they took a taxi from our Dead Sea hotel at 7:30 to arrive right at 8 am when it opened and had the trail to themselves the entire time except at the end when they ran into people arriving as they were leaving. Having more people on the trail and having to wait to go up waterfalls and ladders would have made the experience less fun. There seemed to be no lockers despite what I had read – just tiny cubbies for a phone or keys. They left their water bottles and phones with the driver who was waiting for them. They did not go in the change rooms though to see, but when they asked the man said no lockers. Sport sandals are totally fine – you do not need the water shoes that can be rented. And they said they did not need closed toes. My girls wore sport shorts and t-shirts and that was good – no need to cover up more than that. You do not need a guide – everything was do-able (some of it was challenging). There was one guide on a larger rock-slide to show the way. They took a go pro to capture photos.

    Brilliant day of adventure
As I couldn’t find much about this online I will start by saying you need to be fit and able. This experience involves some swimming in strong currents, climbing ropes across wet rocks and climbing ladders. Extremely fun but make sure you’re wearing grippy water shoes and leggings/ long sleeves to help avoid any scratches etc. a waterproof phone case too so you can take pictures along the way (with a strap to keep around your neck) The experience itself was amazing, you start walking through ankle high water and enjoying the canyon around you. This gradually gets more tricky as the water rises and parts involves swimming but there are always ropes to help you if you need. The trial takes some time as your waiting for others ahead or people coming back. It ends with a big waterfall you can swim behind and the way back is more more fun as it includes a couple of slides and the current carries you along so you can just relax and float back for parts. The only improvements I can see are regarding safety. The life jackets are in poor repair and need replacing. There are no helmets which for this kind of activity is very bad. It’s so easy to slip and bang your head and you’d be seriously injured. The organisation is also poor as you cannot book times. It seems to be first come first serve as they only have so many life jackets so get there early if you’re alone. Our tour managed to get in but initially we’re told we couldn’t go that day, I guess our guide knew someone to thankfully get us in but it was a bit of a mess. There are changing rooms there but only a room with no seat or pegs so just arrive ready. Go for active wear that will dry quickly and pack a carrier bag for your wet things.
