  1. 5.0 Bolyki Pinceszet (132 reviews)
    - Awesome night, great memories
    Friday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Bolyki Pinceszet image
If you plan a get-together with friends or family in Eger, this extraordinary place will serve all your needs. The wine is great, the service is welcoming and the location is second to none. The tasting hall is carved into rhyolite tuff and the main event venue is kind of a missing cube in the hill, I've never seen such forum before. We planned for a long night there, thus booked in advance. We were lucky with the timing, the owner, Janos Bolyki was our host for the winery tour, he also joined our table for the wine tasting. We had beautiful wines that night, accompanied by their cheese and ham board. They all speak decent English and were always there to share a story. See more..

    Holdvölgy Experience image
Our winery is in the heart of the Tokaj wine region in Hungary, just a few miles from Europe’s geometric centre. The Mád basin holds a special position in the world of winegrowing because of its unique soil, macroclimate, and microclimate. Settled as early as the 15th century, Mád is identified in ancient documents as a borough. It was a meeting point for barons, counts, lords, and wine merchants, making it a pivotal location for winegrowing and the wine trade. Holdvölgy operates on an area of 28 hectares. Our estate is situated on twenty-two parcels within seven different vineyards in the best areas of the Mád basin. Our cellar is one of the oldest cellar systems in the region, with some sections dating back as far as the 16th century. Our cellar is also one of the longest, measuring 1.8 kilometers. The history of the winery started with a one-hectare birthday present. By 2006, the Estate had grown to twenty-six hectares. The goal was and still is to achieve the vision of See more..

Valley of the Beautiful Women image
It is a must see place while visiting Eger. Wine lovers will find plenty to love, but it is a treat for everyone over 18. Wineries are everywhere, big, famous ones, built to be pubs, ready to host large parties and smaller family owned ones as well. If you get lucky you might meet one of the locals visiting their own yard and they will let you in. They are not prepared to receive guests, you won’t find music or EU standard pub inside. What you will find is boutique quality wine they only make for friends and family. This is a once in a lifetime experience. See more..

    - Interesting historical castle
Temporarily closed - Closed until further notice Spent 2-3 hours Castles
    Castle of Diósgyőr image
Nice historical castle, renovated some years ago so everything was in good condition and what we enjoyed is that it had displays but the rooms werent overly cluttered. Definitely recommend the guided tour, unfortunately they only had it in Hungarian when we went but our Hungarian friend translated for us and there is a lot of interesting information and stories during the tour. The guide, although young, was very well rehearsed and through our friend's translation we learned lots about the history of the castle. On some days they have various programs and activities but best to check ahead as there wasnt anything on the day we went (Sunday). Also when you are finished at the castle check out the Fairy Garden (Tunderkert) behind the castle which is a beautiful spot to relax and cool down with a nice drink or ice cream after your castle explorations. 9. 4.5 The Basilica (290 reviews)
    - Stunning building
    Religious Sites
    The Basilica image
This is the second biggest Basilica in Hungary and it's incredibly wonderful. It's a known landmark in Eger, in the center, so anyone can visit places where this building shines during the day. Inside it's very detailed, big decorations and a huge space present how rich the catholic church was and this place has a great history. We have held our wedding here a few years ago also. Nowadays it is in progress of a renovation work both internal and external so you may not visit it and / or be disappointed how it looks now, but worth to check later, maybe next year or so. 11. 4.5 Mineral Bath Swimming Pool Park (180 reviews)
    - Water Wonderland
    Sports Complexes
Mineral Bath Swimming Pool Park image
In a water rich country this is yet another havenly bath and swimming pool park at a very affordable price. For a full day adult pass the cost is 1900 HUF (7 USD). Young children get in for free. The water park offers visitors 12 pools/baths to choose from. They range in temperature from hot, warm, lukewarm to cool. There are big pools, small pools, indoor pools, outdoor pools, fun pools, adventure pools, sport pools, adult pools, and kiddy pools. The large children's castle pool area is truly magical. It is worth a half day visit. You leave much more relaxed than when you arrived. Some of the buildings are in slight disrepair. This is especially evident in the locker rooms. You can get a locker for a 1000 HUF (3.50 USD) deposit. You get your money back when you return the key. Weekends are much busier than weekdays. You can purchase food in the park; however, it is poor quality and double the price. See more..

My friends and me often travel to Tokaj Wine Region to taste the unique sweet wine, especially the famous Tokaji Aszú or Szamorodni. Last week we spent 3 days in Tokaj and it was really very good. We walked on the bank of the Tisza and Bodrog rivers, went on a boat trip and ate delicious fish meals and drink fine wine. - Must visit
Friday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Mysterious Sites
    Város a Város Alatt image
In any case, I recommend the place for viewing to those visiting Eger. The retro exhibition on the first floor is unmissable and brings back thousands of memories. On the cellar tour, we saw a lot of interesting things and learned from our guide about the network of cellars under Eger. Time travel was awesome. Unfortunately, my history teacher back then didn't give us such a fun class like the one we had here during time travel. The very nice agricultural engineer seasoned his interesting stories with humor, so not only we enjoyed the time spent here, but also the young people who were with us in the group. As a bonus, not only did we successfully return to 2023, but they even conjured sunshine for us instead of rain. The accompanying wines and Hungarian pálinka were also very delicious. Many thanks to the entire team! The idea and execution are five stars. See more..

  21. 4.5 Miskolc Zoo and Culture Park (83 reviews)
    - Nice zoo a little boring
Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Zoos
Miskolc Zoo and Culture Park image
Miskolc Zoo and Cultural Park opened on 20th August 1983. Our zoo is located in a 21 hectare hornbeam-oak forest connected to the Bükk National Park, this way we can also present the rich flora and fauna of the Bükk Mountains. Written records prove that King Louis the Great had established a royal game preserve in the Csanyik valley in 1355, therefore our zoo is considered to be Hungary’s oldest animal holding place. The zoo is home to around 700 specimens of nearly 130 species and varieties. Visitors can also meet the residents of a typical forest of the Carpathian Basin, the exotic animals of far away continents and native domestic animals that have become curiosities nowadays. Besides presenting animals to visitors, we would also like to draw attention to the small wonders of nature surrounding us. An educational pathway was created for this purpose to exhibit the natural values of our immediate environment. Our zoo also takes part in international breeding programmes that have made it possible for animals extinct in the wild to survive in zoos. A unique initiative was to establish a conservation statue park with life-size bronze statues of animals commemorating the species’ that became extinct as a result of human activity. Our zoo endeavours to join in the popularization of conservation and animal protection and to help environmental education reach all ages, especially the rising generations. The forest environment of Miskolc Zoo is an excellent place to make friends with nature. See more..
  22. 4.5 MNM Rakoczi Muzeuma (78 reviews)
    - Famous castle with rich history
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    MNM Rakoczi Muzeuma image
It was a great experience returning back here after lots of years. It’s one of the most famous and beautiful castle of eastern Hungary. You can see it on the back of 500 HUF banknote. The foundations of Rakoczi castle were laid around 1530. The Red Tower was the first building. It has a rich history with some famous owners. Rákóczi family used to live here, too. There is an exhibition about their life and history of Sárospatak in 17-18. century. You can walk from the bus- or railway station (about 20 minutes), but there’s a free car-park in Szent Erzsébet street. We enjoyed the visit, it’s worth to see it. It's a must-see attraction. The Church is situated on the main square of Eger (Dobo Istvan Square) & it’s wonderful example of Hungarian baroque church. Although the church has long history, the present building was rebuilt in the 18th century. It’s really worth visiting!! Its interior is truly beautiful with paintings, frescos, sculptures & main altar that shows St. Anthony’s vision of Virgin Mary. The facade is unique as well due to its architecture. See more..

    Füzér Fortress image
We were here lots of years ago and it was ruined. Now it's a renewed castle (some parts are still under renovation). It's exciting experience wandering among old (13.century) walls. We arrived from Pálháza by car and climbed up to the castle from the carpark. It's minimum 30 minutes, but it's worth. (I recommend comfortable shoes!) The tickets cost 2500Ft for adults and there are reduced prices, too. We got maps and information, so we could walk independently. It's very good and the view is really magnificent. See more..

The Baradla-Domica cave system is a very unique place. The tour guide shares loads of information such as the caves served as bunker during war times or the first signs of human occupation of them dates back to over 7000 years ago and plenty more. There are several entries and different length of tours exploring different parts of the system. The ones starting from Aggtelek are about an hour long, others from Red Lake entry are 3-4. Take your jacket, the caves are wet and the temperature is a steady 9 centigrade all year long. The air is very good for people suffering from asthma. See more..

Üvegvarázs - lásson csodát! Az elmúlt néhány évben a Mátra északi oldalának egyik leglátogatottabb turisztikai célpontjává vált a parádsasvári üvegmanufaktúra. A műhely őrzi a településen több, mint háromszáz esztendős múltra visszatekintő üveggyártás hagyományait, ugyanakkor éppen kis méretei és a barátságos, családias hangulat miatt nyújt közvetlen élményt a vendégeknek, akik az országban egyedülálló módon ki is próbálhatják az üvegfúvást, s akár saját poharat is fújhatnak maguknak. A huta – ez a német eredetű szó egyébként olvasztókemencét jelent – minden nap 9-15 óráig tart nyitva, s egész óránként indulnak a végig interaktív, „beszélgetős”, idegenvezetéssel kísért, a humort sem nélkülöző üvegfúvó bemutatók. A látogatáshoz előzetes bejelentkezés szükséges, akár e-mailben, akár telefonon, hiszen kicsi maga a hely, egyidejűleg körülbelül 25 vendéget képes befogadni. See more..
