We are thankful for the adventures we got to experience with Busua BEach Adventures. They offer surfing, hiking tours and trips. We did surflessons, what was a lot of fun and we got to stand up:) And we did a trip to Butre with Emmanuel and Samu and that was a nice hiking trip (beach, little hill, village, eating, having good talks) and a 1,5 days trip to the village in stilts near Benin. Emmanuel is a good guide and we got to know the culture a lot more. Def. recommend to book an adventure! See more..

Ahanta Waves Surf School & Camp image
The hotel and the room are really nice. It is quiet because it is not directly on the beach. I had been a bit fossy and they were always doing what they can to make me happy. I take du Surf camp with the dinner include so it is a really nice price for all I get. The dinner are awesome the cook there is really magic! Of course it is Acrica so you need to be patient! You also get a day trip who it is really nice. The surf teacher Bebe is really gentle and he helps you improve your skills. The beach get good waves for Ghana and they can bring you to other surf spots if you are a good surfer! The Host Peter and Julia are really nice and it is nice to have a chat with them! I really recommand the place! They also get Wifi and you can pay by car so it is nice for Ghana! See more..

  9. 4.5 Fort Metal Cross (11 reviews)
    - BEAUTY IN RUINS
    Castles
    Fort Metal Cross image
As told by the tour guide, a lot of things took place for the fort to be built. According to him, human sacrifices had to be made for the building to be constructed. A virgin girl was used for human sacrifice and buried in the compound. The spot she was buried bears the star symbol in the courtyard. The name was altered from ‘the fake mint’ to ‘Metalen Krus” after one of the Dutch boats. It can also be said that the cross as an object was used as a symbol burnt onto the bodies of slaves from the Fort as they were being prepared to be sent to the Castles to be traded off or shipped out. For 5 cedi per head, we had our tour. In our vehicle, we could see the fort standing in its glory painted in white on top of a hill. I was confused as to where the entrance was as the design is different but that notwithstanding, we were ushered in by a happy person. Although it was just 1 man, we met the place looked tidy and well organized. See more..

    - Worth the long drive from Accra
Sunday: 8:15 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Nzulezo Stilt Village Tour image
Nzulezo is a village built entirely on stilts on the Amansuri river. It is constructed out of wood and raffia with one central walkway and to dozen houses on either side. The only way to get there is to travel 5km on the river in a local canoe. The most striking feature thet catches the eye at nzulezo are the wooden accommodation facilities hanging some five feet above the lake level. Visitors to the village are welcomed by the NZULEZO STILT VILLAGE TOUR MANAGEMENT. See more..

  16. 3.5 Gross Friedrichsburg (4 reviews)

A friend and I were told about the Fort while staying at Escape3Points, we hiked to the Fort which took about two and a half hours. It was a beautiful walk with stunning views. It's a really interesting place, we stayed over night in the General's room, and really glad we decided to change our plans to come here. We were cooked dinner and breakfast by Joseph who was a great host. Room was clean and basic, had a fan and mosquito net and to wash was a simple bucket shower. There were a few cockroaches in the room at night but if you can pretend they're not there you'll be glad you took the time to visit. The view from the Fort is beautiful, can see right down to the beach and there is an option to take a canoe trip which is well worth it. We were taken out by Alex at 6am and were lucky to see some monkeys in the Mangroves. See more..
  17. 3.0 Fort San Sebastian (11 reviews)
    - Little to see, could be cultivated.
    Historic Sites
    Fort San Sebastian image
In broad terms this should be on the 'to visit' list of any tourist to the region. While there is little to see and it is difficult to access it is a site of great cultural importance. Disappointingly the $10 entrance fee for a foreigner is 10x that for a local, whether that is justifiable depends upon your point of view. See more..
  18. 3.0 Fort Batenstein (1 review)
    - History near the beach.
    Historic Sites
Easy to find in the back of the small village Butre. A local man sitting near the entrance stairway charges 15 cedis. I got a recipe of it. In recent years there had been some renovation of the fort. The stairways seems to be not completed yet. The view over the sea and nearby river is great. This makes it understandable why this was a strategic point. It's a small fort and not many people visit the place. Except from my guide I was the only person walking there. But if you're enjoying the beach of Butre or nearby Busua it's well worth a visit. See more..
