We spent one afternoon here as part of a birding trip to Ghana; this is amazing habitat that reminded us of sandstone habitat in the Northern Territory of Australia. We had great looks at Fox Kestrel and (after considerable searching) Rock-loving Cisticola, two local specialities. Our group was accompanied for some time by a party of local youngsters who were very friendly. See more..
  3. 4.0 Pikworo Slave Camp (8 reviews)

A little out of the way from Paga but definitely worth the 2 km detour. The guides take you through slave camp where you can see the traces they left; where the slaves where kept during the night, where they got their water from, from where they ate, how they prepared their food, how they were entertained to keep up their spirit (where you can pay the locals to entertain you similarly), the slave traders watch "tower", the mass grave cemetery and the punishment stone. If you are visiting this area this is a must-visit place, both because of the history and but chiefly because of the remains that are still there. See more..
  4. 3.5 Sacred Crocodile Ponds (21 reviews)

The tourist shop, Hakuna Matata, in Bolgatanga, provided us with the opportunity to visit the wild crocodiles of Paga (transport from Bolga included). Once in Paga we had to pay about 20 cedis between us to visit the chief's pond where over 200 crocodiles live. It was great! You not only get to see these huge creatures but you are also able to pet, sit on and even swim (if you are crazy enough) with them!! It was an extremely touristy experience but also very interesting! The guides told us all about Paga's clans and their relationships towards to crocodiles that roam their village. All in all, a very fun, interesting and adrenaline pumping trip! See more..

It was expensive and they hurried us down to the water, had us hold the crocodile's tail and throw it a chicken, then hurried us away. See more..
