    National Park of Tusheti image
I think this was my favorite part of Georgia! So serene! The ride from the village of Pshaveli to Omalo through Abano pass took us about 5 hours by our Toyota Hilux and seemed to be endless but beautiful at the same time. Once in Omalo we hiked to a gorgeous village of Dartlo and back to Omalo. It was hard to believe that people live here so cut off from other civilization. Dartlo was extraordinarly beautiful. Had no issue with dogs at all on this trail. See more..

    Lagodekhi National Reserve image
We took the route to the Black Gouse Waterfall. It was a beautiful experience, route was well marked but sometimes pretty tough so you need a good pair of trekking shoes. If the weather conditions are bad it can be dangerous and hard to get to the waterfall. You need to go to administration first to sign and talk with the guides. We've met there a guide whos name was Zaza, he is a great guy with a lot of experience. They have three persian cats that are adorable :) See more..

    Vaziani Company image
Thanks to previous reviewers, we found out about Mamuka (the local guide with transportation) & contacted him. It was the right choice for us even though we took a taxi to Telavi to meet Mamuka there. Everything after went really smoothly - we transferred our luggage into Mamuka’s car & then had a full day of fantastic local sightseeing with him. Mamuka is from Telavi & he knows every corner of this area. He helped us to narrow down the numerous choices we had so that our visit ended up being diverse, exciting and memorable. We spoke a mixture of Russian & English and never had any communication problems. A separate huge thanks goes to Mamuka’s family for their hospitality and to his father George for the excellent house wine! Gamaur dzjos!! See more..

Signaghi is a picturesque small town in the Georgian wine country. It is known as City of Love but also a tourist attraction because of it great wall , which was built in the 18th century to provide sanctuary and provide protection to those who came to the town. Sighnaghi wall with the length of about 5 kilometers and 23 towers was built in King Erekle II’s times in 1770s. The fortress could accommodate almost all Kizikians in that period. 18. 4.5 David Gareja Monastery (321 reviews)
    - Hiking into the Rainbow Mountains starting at the Monastery
Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
    David Gareja Monastery image
The Monastery itself is spectacular and unique, but we certainly would' give it 5 stars especially that he trails to the supposedly amazing caves are now off limits. What gave the experience the 5 stars was the hike we did down the valley into the Rainbow mountains, or what my children decided should "Bacon Mountains", because that was a better resemblance of the colors in August :). We started our hike at the Monastery's parking lot and followed cow trails into the valley and then hiked around the beautiful area. It is a fragile eco system and we were happy to be hiking and not in a 4wd vehicle. There are no marked trails but ample cow dung to let you know that you are on a trail easy enough to follow. You can always see the Monastery (as a reference point). Note: we lucked out to be visiting on a cool August day. I would certainly not recommend this hike on a hot day. I'm sure it would be amazing in spring See more..

    Churches & Cathedrals
    Alaverdi St. George Cathedral image
The cathedral description on Wikipedia is somewhat incomplete. There are interesting historical photos on the territory, as well as a small museum in construction. There is a very active parish and there were many locals on Sunday attending with baptizing, weddings, etc. Great to see that the cathedral was revived from a poor state end 90s to a very good shape since 2020, but it is still work in progress.
