Our young host Alexandre did an excellent job as translator, speaking excellent English and helping us to learn from the rest of the family and explaining the many toasts of the Supra. Only 30 minutes from Tbilisi centre, but very much in a rural setting. If you want a real home wine experience without pretension, you'll find the true essence of Georgia right here! Samshvilde is a ruined fortified city and archaeological site in Georgia and is a beautiful place to make a light walk along still remaining central street. Further are partly destroyed, but still very beautiful fortress, beautiful tiny still functioning churches and ruins of greater church. In far end of the town is a very beautiful view to the place of merging of two rivers. There were plenty of very big eagles could be observed in eye level. Best to visit during early spring time and late autumn. In summertime there were very high grass, so many artefacts are hidden, as well it will be snakes as well, so it is recommended to wear appropriate shoes ant trousers and make some noise when going through the grassy areas. Battle Memorial of Didgori is located approximately 55 km from Tbilisi, by car approximately one and half hour. Only 4x4 cars can reach to destination. The place is amazing and breathtaking. Definitely you would like to go back again. At the moment road condition is under construction. Unfinished road goes up to the mountains through forest. Somehow I didn't enjoy the glass bridge (No fear factor), but the hiking to the waterfall was impressive and also tiresome. Hiking is not fit for light hearted as the climbdown and climbup are very steep. The tour company I choose, just gave us 2 hours to spend there, which is clearly not enough See more..
