Excellent Stop On Our Tour

It was the first stop on our tour for the day and what a stop. Not knowing any of the history involved we had a pleasant and informative tour through the museum and then a wine tasting, a delicious wine tasting, and a wander through the gorgeous grounds, all before 11am. Great way to start the day.

    The heart of Georgia
Knowing the admiration that Georgians have for this family made all the difference in the world. A trip to Georgia without visiting Tsinindali would be a mistake. I must add a caveat prior to writing, my wife is a Chavchavadze, so this trip was special. On the drive up, a stop at the Ujarma fortress is a nice break from the twisting mountain roads. Tsinindali is a lovely, well-kept estate situated in the foothills of the famous white capped Caucasus mountains bordering Russia. The vista was spectacular (photo). The staff was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable and spoke English. The artifacts were well preserved and displayed. A cafe, wine store/bar with ample sitting area and WC were all available. Georgian wine is excellent - don’t forget to buy an estate wine there, as I did (11-hr jet lag after only two days took over).

History, antiques and an excellent guide!
This review is for the museum - it's quite confusing what is what (naming). See my separate review for the separate hotel on the same estate. We stayed at the Tsinandali Estate for a meeting, One of the activities was the visit to this museum, the ancient house of the noble family. Excellent guide who led us through the histories of events, construction and family happenings. Some great historical pianos - and the exposition of the rooms and pieces is superbly done. Beautiful arboretum/park around. And the old wine cellar with all those (empty) bottles is impressionant, to be observed through the glass floor.
