   Not a well-known museum, and also a fairly unkonwn sculptor for a layman. Was very active, the museum exhibits tens of his sculptures and reliefs. The museum has several parts, and for me the most interesting was the massive collection of folklore: tens of items from almost every brand of life in days gone by, from rowing boats to household items. All very well put on display. Every hour there was also a guided tour to the artist's premises in one of the musum buildings. Enlightening and recommended. There is also a changing exhibit, this summer it was modern Japanese visual art. This is what attracted us to the museum in the first place, so the regular exhibits were an unexpected delight.    Huikea matka Kaljaasi Ihanalla ensin saariston suojassa Kuuskajaskariin ja takaisin päin avomerellä. Kova tuuli sattui, joten silloin kannattaa pukea lämmintä ja tuulenpitävää ylle. Alkumatkasta söimme alhaaalla kajuutassa maittavaa kermaista lohikeittoa älyttömän hyvän tumman leivän kanssa. Takaisin tullessa aallot oli 1,5metrin korkeudessa eli alus keikkui niin että vettä tuli kannelle. Suosittelen pahoinvointitabletteja ehdottomasti,jos vähäkään tuntuu siltä.     The Finnish word pahka means a burl, a gnarl or a burr. So Pahkaparatiisi means Burl Paradise. It is maintained by an oldish couple. The husband has been a forester. He has collected the huge collection of burls and other wooden wonders. There are about 4,500 burls in the collection. You can see many different figures in them. Just use your imagination! The collection is situated in three buildings. One of them is the childhood home of the collector. In the middle of a summer Pahkaparatiisi is open every day 12 p.m. (noon) - 6 p.m. In other seasons it is open only for groups.     This short hiking route called Santojen lenkki is 5.3 kilometres long and it is a circle route. You see all the best parts of Yyteri here: the 6 kilometre long beach, the highest dune of Yyteri, pine forests etc. We started hiking anticlockwise from Yyterin aukio and the path was quite easy to walk. We had a coffee break in Holiday Centre Yyteri Beach Lomakeskus (Restaurant Dyyni). Munakarin säikkä is a very interesting sandbank (sand bar). It is 0.5 kilometres long. Sometimes it is under the sea level and sometimes partly above it. Along the sandbank it is possible to wade to Munakari Islet. However, it isn't allowed to do that between April 1st and July 31st, because birds are nesting there then. I would like to go there. So I have to come back here later. Besides, I wouldn't do that if the weather is cold or windy and waves are high. Santojen Lenkki is THE MUST in Yyteri. I really recommend it! See more..

Kallioilta aukeaa kaunis näkymä avomerelle, Säpin majakkasaarelle, merellä kelluville tuulimyllyille ja nähtävissä takarantanäkymää koko Reposaaren mitalta. Paras kohta bongailla kalliokaiverruksia on valonheitin kallioilla, jotka löytyvät Siikarannan jatkeena ja kuntoradan takaa. 1941 rakennettu valonheitin asema on louhittu kallion sisään, alusta on edelleen nähtävissä.
