  1. 5.0 8th Hussars Regimental Museum (16 reviews)
    - A celebrated regiment
    Military Museums
    8th Hussars Regimental Museum image
This regimental museum (8th Hussars, founded 1848) is housed in a former railway station in the centre of Sussex. From this station, many local recruits left to fight in Europe. The collection focuses mainly on the Great War and WWII but pays hommage to UN Peacekeepering and the Afghan mission as well. Most of the personal artefacts are connected to the regiment. Several dioramas portray conditions lived by combattants, including a WWI trench and an adjutant's tent from WWII. The tour guide who accompanied us was well informed and obviously engaged with the ongoing development of the collection. Her explanations and anecdotes added immeasurably to our experience. She offered to send copies of a few photographs of the train station and they were waiting for us in email upon our return home. Definitely worth a visit. See more..

    TimberTop Zip Tours image
Excellent Adventure! Leroy and the staff at Timbertop were absolutely amazing. We had to do several reschedules due to weather and lockdown, but the wait was worth it. Leroy did a tremendous job of keeping us updated about situations affecting our booking and was always extremely accommodating. Made it to Snider Mountain on March 20th, and had such a great time. Leroy and Alec were our guides. There are guides with you the whole time. If you are new, they take you through the entire process of harnessing up, safety, etc. with clear, easy to follow instructions. They are also there to help reassure you if you are nervous and have never zip lined before. Both our guides were very friendly and the time 'flew' by. 13 zip lines, all through the trees. A great way to spend a few hours. Looking forward to going back next season as well and going to Timbertop in Saint John, when it opens for the season. See more..

  8. 4.5 The Bluff (19 reviews)
    - Awesome views, short hike.
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    The Bluff image
A great hike for a novice, the bluff (there are actually 3, separated by short distances) is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon or late evening. Find the big blue water tower in Sussex Corner, and the trailhead is just behind it (there are two, take the one nearest the valley). There is a 20 or so minute walk along a rock ridge and through the woods, and then the path opens up into a beautiful panoramic view of Dutch Valley and Poley Mountain. It's one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) view in the Sussex area. Dogs are welcome and frequent the trail but are usually leashed. Not a place for toddlers but older children should do fine, but keep close to an adult just to be safe...there are a few areas that if you trip over the side it's a long way down. The terrain is very uneven but easily passable (roots, rocks, etc) and it's pretty hard to get lost....a straight shot in and out. Best advice is to do late evening when the sun is just setting, the shadows in the valley are beautiful. See more..

  15. 2.5 Connie's Collectables (2 reviews)
    - VERY NEAT SHOP
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
I you are wondering why I would take the time to review a small retail shop in a small town, well I believe in getting the word out when it is deserved and Connie's is certainly that. She has a wonderful selection of tasteful antiques, country style collectables and the like. My wife purchased a couple of very cute baby items for a friend back home and she usually doesn't do that unless the shop is unique. We hope that Connie's stays open for many years to come. WELL DONE. See more..
