My tween/teen boys, mother in law and I spent a wonderful half day on the sea kayaks with Bruce. We had some incredible up close encounters with curious Harbor Seals, saw some bald eagles and even a Minke whale! Bruce is extremely knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife, and he shared so many interesting facts with us. He took plenty of time at the beginning to teach us novice kayakers how to use the foot pedals and paddles efficiently, and took plenty of breaks to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. I would highly recommend booking a kayak trip with Seascape if you visit Passamaquoddy Bay and Deer Island, it’s worth it! See more..

We were in this gallery in August. Our experience was outstanding. The owner had a covid plan and was excellent to deal with. My daughter and myself made some purchases and the owner was extremely friendly. There is a large array of Canadian crafts available from art-work to blown glass to pottery/jewelry etc etc. Well worth a visit. We will return on our next trip to the island. See more..

We took a small car ferry from Campobello island to Deer Island New Brunswick for a day trip. Leonardville lighthouse was difficult to fine but it is the sweetest cutest lighthouse. It was worth the trip. The island is pretty very remote make sure you bring your lunch as there is only one restaurant. See more..

    Hiking Trails
    Clark Gregory Nature Preserve image
The trail from the northernmost access point is just past Chocolate Cove off of the main road. Drive down the access road and there’s a small area to park at the trailhead with a map. 30 minutes or so of hiking and you will come to a beautiful ocean viewpoint on a rocky point in the forest. This hike offers a gorgeous example of the Boreal/Acadian Forest ecosystem. The trail is well marked, and there’s an interesting enclosed “lean to” type of structure a few minutes from the trailhead with windows and a little guest book. Completely charming! See more..

Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water
See more..
  8. 3.5 Chocolate Cove (5 reviews)
    - One of many
    Bodies of Water
    Chocolate Cove image
Deer Isle has a number of coves and it seems the locals have found a way to utilize each one to make a living. At low tide you can walk out along the shore and enjoy the salty air. Most of the coves are "working" places, but they are just as picturesque. Hint: when you visit the island drive the left side following each road to the end; usually a cove, then go all the way to the campground. On the return take the right side as much as you can. If you plan to eat bring a picnic or stop at the 45th as there are very few restaurants. Plan a good 3-4 hours to see most of the island. See more..
