While traveling up the Acadian Peninsula we stopped in at the Distillerie Fils du Roy. What an absolutely amazing experience. We had a great personalized tour Of the distillery by Rosa and then she personally guided us through tastings of their beers (too many to remember but all very good) followed by their distilled spirits. Boy did we taste a lot of good spirits, and boy did we learn a lot about liquor. After an amazing 1-1/2 hours we finally departed with our new found appreciation of beer and distilled spirits, and also a few bottles of both. All of this was free, no charge and no expectations of purchasing any of their products. Other wineries, craft beer or distilleries charge for tastings. If we could give them a 10 we would give them an 11. This was the highlight of our three day staycation. A hidden gem in our province of New Brunswick! See more..

The Village historique acadien is a must-see attraction in New-Brunswick! A living museum portraying the daily lives of the Acadians from 1770 to 1949. In operation from June to September, the site includes forty historic buildings along a 2.2 km trail and all run by bilingual interpreters (English and French). Many services are available on site (Hôtel, restaurants, bars, shops, bus, etc.) during Summer. Le bar/café de la Brôquerie est installé dans une des maisonnettes colorées (2 étages, avec une belle terrasse offrant une vue unique sur la Halte nautique et la baie de Caraquet) autour du centre récréotouristique du Carrefour de la Mer à Caraquet. On peut y consommer une grande variété de bières artisanales fabriquées au Nouveau-Brunswick ou dans d’autres provinces canadiennes ainsi que quelques cocktails. Son nom provient du mot acadien « broaker » qui signifie « mettre en pot », ce qui traduit assez bien cet établissement où l’on sert la bière dans des chopes faites à partir de pots Mason. On y tient régulièrement de petits spectacles musicaux.
