I can honestly say that I have never seen customer service as good from any other company than what I have received from Phil over the past two weeks while we were on the island. Nothing was too much trouble and the diving was professional and safe, which is the most important part. I was really looking forward to some dives with my daughter and wife and Phil was able to look after us and get us on some nice wrecks and reefs. Great communication and a chilled attitude were very much appreciated and my daughter is absolutely made up with her new dive T-shirt! I was incredibly grateful that the tour went on, despite it just being my husband and I and despite the rain! Our guide, Evan, made it such a lively and wonderful experience. He was very knowledgeable, and took us through each nook and cranny of the city sharing each bit of cultural significance. The headsets were a very helpful touch, given the city was bustling—especially on a Friday mid-morning. We had the best time with Tony waterskiing and seeing the turtles! Tony was amazing from start to finish; after calling, he booked us in at the pier at Speightstown and arrived exactly on time helping us onto the boat from the pier. I have never been able to get up on waterskis, and thanks to Tony's amazing instruction and patience - I did it finally after 10 years! After we all successfully waterskied, Tony took us to the turtles where we managed to see them and get up close which was amazing! (See photo). My kids (aged 16 and 14) both tried Flyboarding with spy. Spy is a great teacher and had them up and dolphin diving in a half hour lesson. We booked an additional lesson as they loved it so much! Spy brought the equipment up to the beach we were staying on and travels up and down the west coast. He was punctual both times we met him. On holiday for two weeks here so joined as temporary members and used the gym, pool, and classes (yoga, meditation, cardio dance, and Pilates ) as well as having treatments and delicious smoothies in the cafe area by the pool. Everybody was so nice and the classes and treatments were perfect. Michelle,the owner, has a lovely calmness about her and has created a beautiful place in Mullins and does great yoga and meditation sessions. Fiona is fantastic with Pilates (ouch!) and Zumba style cardio. Lauren on Reception is super friendly and helpful. We had Indian head massage and reflexology and the therapists were both really excellent, professional, friendly and really knew their stuff. Members here are locals and long term visitors as well as holiday makers so it feels more personal, local, authentic, and friendly than using a big hotel spa. Can’t recommend it enough. Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church is located above Speightstown. We first attended here on our vacation in 2015. Each time we vacation at Almond Beach (see review), we attend church here. The service is welcoming and energizing, and Father "Grigory" is a devout, humane speaker, but with a twinkle in his eye. He is a good fit for this parish, whose members always make it a point to welcome guests. Service starts at 8:45 am and runs to about 10:00 am. There is no Saturday evening service. See more..

If you want to experience the true spirit of Barbados and engage with local people with stories that should be heard, this is the place for you. Babbies Cool Spot is a local bar just off of Queen Street in Speightstown, where a warm and friendly welcome, awaits. The beer is cheap, the selection of rum excellent and a modest selection of good quality local food is usually available. Gregory Blair the owner is a wonderful host and there's always a game of pool on offer should you wish to challenge the locals, "Melvin is a pretty handy player". The venue is basic/rustic so no need to dress up. When visiting we usually buy an 8 bottle bucket of Deputy $20 Barbados Dollars (10$ USD) plonk them on the table and spend the next couple of hours putting the world to rights with heart of the locals. The conversations can become quite animated, but they are always good fun and the more rum and beer consumed the more entertaining the conversation becomes. Wayne is always the voice of reason, Mervin brings colour and passion and Gregory keeps the peace. At the end of the evening you finish with a warm embrace, more knowledgeable of the struggles and the opportunities faced and the enduring optimism that all those who frequent this wonderful establishment have. You arrive has strangers but leave building new and hopefully long lasting friendships. We will certainly be returning when we next visit and I urge you to do the same. Excellent beach if you want to escape the crowd. We were there in February 2020 and I didn’t see any construction like previous reviewers indicated. It quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Lots of fish and turtles by the port. I highly recommend it. Unlike other beaches this one doesn’t have a lot of jetskies and boats. You can snorkel right from the beach if you have a mask. But don’t expect any amenities. There are none. Bring everything you need yourself. It’s great for those who stay in a nearby hotel or rent a car to come up there. This was one of the reasons I booked Barbados I love turtles!! Malibu was the loveliest guy taking us out, super friendly and helpful. He brought us exactly to the turtles and fed them tuna to attract them, they must recognize his boat because there were at least 6 swimming around us. Such an amazing experience. We also hired jet skis off him on another day I was super nervous but him and his colleagues were very helpful. Would 100% book Malibu again for trips and watersports. See more..

Drove through Speightstown Barbados and found this little gem of a spot. Really nice little Bar in a beautiful location on the beach. Donell looked after us really well. Although we just had drinks, it’s set up for food as well. So far it’s the best rum punch we have had anywhere on the island. This recently opened aspect to St Nicholas Abbey is a fantastic addition to the property. The staff members who man the train and provide commentary and guidance to visitors are top notch. The historical and operational information is pitched at just the right level for the train buff or casual visitor. It is delivered with humour and with the chance to ask more searching questions if required. The route takes you through the grounds to a high point at Cherry Tree Hill from where there are spectacular views down the east coast. There is even a chance for audience participation when the engine is rotated on a turn table!
