  1. 5.0 Hunte's Gardens (4.743 reviews)
    - Best rum punch served in spectacular surroundings
    Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Gardens
    Hunte's Gardens image
You might hear this garden before you see it, its delightfully eccentric owner, Anthony Hunte BCH, plays classical music throughout the garden. This is the working end of old Castle Grant plantation, where sugar cane was once processed into syrup. Step through the gate and you'll soon tread on the old weigh bridge, where loads of cane were tallied. Just past the old stone outbuildings, where statues lurk among exotic plants, you'll find yourself on the lip of a great, hemispherical sinkhole in the limestone substrate. Steps lead down and paths branch out through an exquisite profusion of flowering plants, with towering trees around the edges. Both here and farther along the top are a series of small secret gardens, where you can sit to absorb the serenity and enjoy a picnic. Be sure to climb the upper level steps to Mr. Hunte's house, a transformation of the old stables. He'll invite you for refreshments-including his legendary rum punch or freshly made lemonade (for sale). See more..

    Coco Hill Forest image
Coco Hill Forest is a 53-acre regenerative agroforestry project located on Richmond Road, St. Joseph, featuring 3.5km of hiking trails in a lush primary rainforest overlooking the east coast of Barbados, a coconut nursery, and among over 70 species of tropical fruit trees, herbs, and spices. Our mission is to contribute to food security by building back and protecting the biodiversity that was lost to sugarcane monoculture. We are open everyday, including holidays, from 9am to 5pm, to walk-ins for self-guided hikes. Entrance fee is 25BBD/adult and 15BBD for children under 12. Children under 3 come in for free. Hiking shoes are recommended, and picnics are welcome. Guided tours are offered on appointment. During this 2hr tour, our guides will take you on our best trails while telling you about our project and the natural history of Barbados. We also host volunteering activities on Saturdays, private events, and camping. Contact us for more info and follow us for updates! See more..

    Andromeda Botanic Gardens image
Described by a Royal Horticultural Society judge as 'one of the most unique and outstanding gardens in the world', Andromeda is the original garden of Barbados. It provides visitors with an authentic garden experience and is a wonderful haven for biodiversity. Created as a private botanic garden by Iris Bannochie (three Gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, Silver Crown of Merit issued by the Barbadian government and much more) from the 1950s. At that time, Barbados was simply a land exploited for sugar, and a country without a long history of garden creation. Andromeda is rare and unique. Comprised of about 20 connected gardens, the variety of plants and experiences is incredible. There are over 500 different plant species, including over 100 species of trees. It feels very natural, yet is completely woman-made. Wildlife add so much to the enjoyment! Andromeda Botanic Gardens, 'the best garden in Barbados by far', is organic. See more..

  8. 4.5 Hackleton's Cliff (11 reviews)
    - Amazing views with lovely fenced park
    Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas
    Hackleton's Cliff image
Off the beaten tourist track, we used sat nav and a Google Earth screenshot to find it. Half the fun was the journey itself. Most side roads in Barbados aren’t great, we had a high clearance car which avoids all the steep potholes. The viewpoint is free and unmanned, but there are a few bungalows nearby. Viewpoint is at end of road, with parking area (and portatoilets). Well maintained fenced park with benches, tables and information boards. Platform for East coast Lookout is actually an old tomb. Brilliant views of East Coast and Bathsheba, we enjoyed this more than Cherry Tree Hill lookout as we could just admire the view on our own without rushing. Collection box for (deserved) donations to maintain the park. See more..

  11. 4.0 Bath Beach (168 reviews)
    - Deserted well kept beach
    Beaches
    Bath Beach image
Bath beach is an undiscovered gem. A properly tarmacked road down from the main road - a big car park, clean toilets, showers, picnic area. The sargassum weed is cleaned off the beach. Sandy beach and a reef so the waves break far out which means that you can paddle and even swim in the shallows safely. Lots of shade from the palm trees. No food trucks or cafe so bring your own supplies. Was completely deserted and I don’t understand why!!! See more..
