Monterosa is our favourite ski resort by a country mile. Although it is small on piste, it is ranked in the top 5 worldwide for off piste. Since many of the properties in the pretty, traditional villages are owned by wealthy Milanese and Torinese, the resort is quiet and uncrowded during the week. Other than the weekend and Italian holidays, we rarely queue for lifts. It has its own microclimate and is remarkably sunny, but since it is high and has extensive snow making, the snow conditions are usually good. However, if you want raucous apres ski, go to Austria. This is a great resort for beginners. We took our four grandchildren aged 6 to 8 who had private lessons for 1 hour per day on their first skiing experience. After 2 days on the nursery slopes they were able to progress to areas at the top of the gondola with enormous areas of blue runs. Ski School Instructors were great. I had the misfortune to need the bloodwagon descent and a visit to the hospital in Aosta for an X ray. Fortunately nothing was broken. All costs for this were covered by the €3 per day insurance that came with lift pass. The family run restaurants in the village offer excellent value for money for evening meals.See more..

On the downside, snow is late this year so only the Glacier was available, and the downhill event we had tickets for was cancelled for the same reason. On the upside, there were lifts to the glacier and there were slopes open and the sun was shining, and life was good! As an added benefit the lack of snow meant that excellent hotels were available at a 1/4 of the normal price. Restaurants were not busy at all, and the cuisine and service was out of this world. I do feel for the local infrastructure, restaurants, hotels, bars etc as this is their livelihood, but I hope our contribution helped in some small way; what we saved on the hotel certainly made its way into the community in other ways! Breuil-Cervinia is amazing when there is snow on the ground, but it is no less beautiful when there is not.See more..

I visited this ski center with my family and we were pleasantly impressed with it. It's quite big and has very reasonable prices. You can get the half a day pass or full day price for under 25 euros. Furthermore there's the ski/snowboard equipment rental shop right there and the prices are also very low 17e per person. As we were snowboard beginners and were not ready to go on the big slopes we decided to take a lesson from a snowboard instructor. You get this service also from the same place for quite a low price as well. We paid 50euros in total for 4 people for a one hour lesson. Since we were going to learn to snowboard on the smaller slopes it felt terrible to not see the view from the top of the mountain so we asked if it was possible to go on the ski lift without skiing. In fact it was a possibility for only 7e/person. The staff was extremely helpful as it was our first time. We were helped at the beginning and when reaching the top of the mountain. The view of the Alps from the top is just outstanding. It's completely worth the price and can't wait to be ready to snowboard up there. Crevacol was absolutely great and I won't hesitate to go back.See more..

My husband and I went there in January, even though neither of can ski. The little village at the base of the ski station is delightfully charming and once you go up to the ski station in the cable car - you will be astounded by nature's beauty. The air is so crisp and pure, the strong pine trees coloring the snowy landscape. It is a magical experience, worth the trip even if you just go up to the ski station to admire the view. There is a bar (as the Italians call it) which is actually a cafe that serves delicious hot chocolate, tea, coffee and some food. What's even more fun was stepping on the snow in the field in the little village, thinking it was solid, to find it incredibly soft and sinking right in up to our waists. In those instances, you must make a snow angel. One of the most spectacular views we have ever seen.See more..

First visit to Italy and this resort, the mountain is great and has a good variety of runs so long as the conditions allow you can ski a large area. The wind did mean we lost a day of skiing and were restricted with what was open but we still had great days skiing. The prices are reasonable in mountain restaurants and in resort although it is very quiet most places closed after dinner and not lively but maybe this is due to covid restrictions. We went to the thermal baths which were nice and there are some lovely shops in the village. Best bit was skiing on mountains with few people no queues and amazing scenery. We drove from Milan which was really straight forward using google maps it took a couple of hours.See more..

Brought my kids for a long weekend in Torgnon and we end up in this park for a couple of times. Kids really enjoyed it, spent all day running an plying around. There is also a restaurant nearby (my bad don't remember the name) with a good range of food, it doesn't came cheap bat portions are big. It is easy to keep an eye on kids since the position of the slide, and it is a huge bonus when you have twins. There is only a negative point (but it is common all around the world). No sign to tell people don't smoke in an amusement park!! especially when kids are around. It is a shame to find cigarette butts in such a wonderful place. some people are really bad and should be avoided to get in there. Usually, I clean it up myself because it is always dangerous to leave it as it is.See more..
