Lovely skiing for families with young children
Pila is the perfect resort for intermediates, young children or more nervous skiers. Whilst the map shows most of the runs as red, they are more like blues. The skiing is fairly easy, and the pistes are generally wide and feel very safe, with no steep drops. The chair lifts do get busy during weekends and kids holiday time, but they are pretty modern and are therefore fairly quick to get you to the top. The ski school meeting point is actually about half way up the piste, which feels a bit strange initially, but you can get to it either by gondola, or by a couple of magic carpets, which make it accessible for beginners. There are plenty of restaurants near the pistes, so if you like to stop off regularly for a hot drink or something stronger, it's the right resort for you! If you are an expert, the skiing would probably not be challenging enough, though it would be a nice place to visit for a couple of days. If however you are anxious or lack confidence, you would struggle to find a more perfect resort!

    Great skiing for all abilities
We skied at Pila during a stay in Aosta town. You can access the ski area by cable car from the town itself or take the lovely scenic drive up the mountain with stunning views down on to the town and of the surrounding mountains. We drove each of the days we skied. Parking busy on a weekend day but still found a spot and week days very easily found. We had one total beginner with us on this trip and so signed her up for a few private lessons. She soon got the hang of it and joined the good skiers in our party after just 2 lessons. The runs are good but some chairlifts are very slow! It was busy as half term school trips and families descended. The piste side restaurants by the 2 parking areas are too small inside on a cold day but plenty of outdoor seating on a sunny day.
