Great zoo, but NO PICNICS!

BIOPARC VALENCIA is a unique zoo. Its design employs the “zooimmersion” concept, in which visitors are surrounded by meticulous recreations of the natural habitats being presented. Social animals that live together in groups are displayed, as well as groups of different species that coexist in the same habitats. Predatory species are integrated into the visual space, but are separated from other species by barriers invisible to the eye of the visitor, ensuring the safety of both the animals and the people. The animals, vegetation and landscape provide opportunities for discovering the complexity of natural ecosystems.

Do not miss this! It’s magical!
We were a little hesitant to pay over €100 for a family of four for a park that seemed a bit small. After our visit which lasted four hours (and we really took our time and even went back to twice to several exhibits), I can say we would have paid double the amount. This is one of the finest most well-kept parks I’ve ever been to. I wouldn’t even call it a zoo because you can just tell that the animals are so well cared for. There’s no true “cages” and barely any barriers between you and the animals. The habitats are so close to what these animals would experience in their own natural environments that it’s absolutely incredible. The park is incredibly clean and there is so much to see. I think kids with short attention span could easily do the park in two hours. But we found it more beneficial to go back to a few of the areas later in our visit and we found that the animals were in different places and doing different things which made it even more interesting. There are several food options in the park. You can eat at the restaurant while overlooking the rhinos and get a full meal for about €17 for adults and €10 for children. Or you can eat in the smaller cafés which have hamburgers and pizza. There’s also ice cream and vending machines and everything is very reasonably priced. We had such a great time and made so many wonderful memories here. The staff at the park were engaging and helpful as well!

    Great zoo, but NO PICNICS!
First off, be aware that we had our bags searched before buying our tickets. Not for weapons, but for food. We were not allowed to take in any food or drink other than water in plastic bottles. There were people rapidly goobling down their picnics rather than throw them away. There is a sign at the entrance warning you of this, but an earlier heads up would have been apreciated. Now, once inside, the zoo is spectacular. The animals appear to be in good health and not stressed. The layout of the park is a bit of a maze so you see the same animals from different perspectives. All 3 of our kids enjoyed the visit with plenty of photo opportunities. Kids are 15, 13 and 9. The restaurant was being refurbished but a reasonable snack bar had been installed. There were lots of school parties visiting when we were (Thursday pm). Took us 3 hours to do the tour, could have stayed longer, but had seen everything there was. Would have been 5 stars but for the picnic rule.
