4.0Parque Cultural Epopeia Italiana(3.223 reviews) - A great history of the Italian immigration to Southern Brazil Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
See more..

While visiting Gramado, the beautiful city at "Serra Gaúcha", you will certainly pass by this crooked street, officially named "Rua Emílio Sorgetz". It will probably remind you of Lombard Street in San Francisco, CA. Well, it is quite smaller, but it is also very pretty, with manicured gardens and blossoming flowers. A quick stop, some pics and get going. There are still so many other things to visit in Gramado and its surroundings. Enjoy!See more..

4.5Erva-Mate Ferrari(1.367 reviews) - Traditional drink from south of Brazil: "Mate" Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mate is a type of herbal infusion (some call it "tea" as well), very typical from the south region of Brazil. I always wondered how the European immigrants that settled there acquired the tradition of drinking it during the whole day. Actually the habit came from the Indians from that region, and then was assimilated by immigrants. The whole process of preparing the "mate" is explained in a very brief tour. Tickets are purchased in the wooden cabin in the other side of the road. Care for more details? Visit them! See more..

5.0Miragem Livraria(778 reviews) - A magical bookstore at beautiful Serra Gaúcha! Points of Interest & Landmarks
Visiting beautiful "Serra Gaúcha", one should not miss the small town of "São Francisco de Paula" (only 36 Kms away of "Canela") and its magical bookstore: "Miragem Livraria". A fantastic wooden building houses "Livraria Miragem" where, at over 2000 Sq Mts, books, antiques, pantings and history will impress all your senses. This bookstore represents the giant effort of a woman, Ms. Luciana Olga Soares, and her love for literature, history and art, as well as environment protection. If you miss it, you will regret forever. Annex to "Miragem Livraria", the cozy "Capitão Chaves Bistrô" completes the scene. Enjoy!See more..
Locals claim this is the most beautiful street in the world. Well, that's a tough call, as it would have to displace such renowned venues as the Champs Elysees, Regent Street or Harumi Odori. Even 5th Avenue. But, let's give it is due. It's very pretty, strictly residential and, well, that's about it.See more..
4.5Padre Chagas(742 reviews) - Top or the Town! Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
"The street to be seen on" is Padre Chagas. Full of great restaurants and expensive shops, it's the place to strut your stuff. We lived a few blocks from Padre Chagas and walked there often for leisurely Sunday afternoons, Friday or Saturday night dinner, parties etc. We felt safe in the area, and always enjoyed ourselves when on Padre Chagas. We are not in the "upper class" but managed just fine nonetheless. Great for "people watching" from one of the outdoor patios, especially those on the second floor overlooking this busy street. Pretty at Christmastime with lights strung across the street.See more..

The rural properties where "charque" (jerky meat) was produced were known as "charqueadas". In the 19th century, the "charque" cycle left strong marks in Southern Brazil and "Charqueada São João" is an important historical and cultural reference. As an appointed national heritage site, this is a must visit while in Pelotas. On the banks of "Arroio Pelotas", this beautiful private property has opened its doors in 2000, sharing history with tourists from all over the world. Reservations are highly recommended, principally if you wish to join the boat ride in "Arroio Pelotas". Ms. Eva heartly welcomes all visitors, giving us a unique opportunity for learning about the "charque" economical cycle, the process of production, the intensive labor of slaves, the property and the owner's family. Unmissable! Enjoy!See more..

This should be one of the most carefully preserved place in Novo hamburgo since it was the place where first immigrants started the city. However, this city has never had a good eyes to history and tourism. An handful of local personalities tried their best to preserve and restore buildings there, but these have always been personal efforts, since I've never seen a strong public support for that. To start, they should close traffic on that area, incentive cafeteria and restaurants there.See more..
