St. Mina Orthodox Church, Southeast Romania, Romania

4.5 (48 reviews) Spent Ranking #16 in Southeast Romania Churches & Cathedrals

Very Lovely

On the shore of Lake Tăbăcărie, in the north of Constanţa, the Biserica ortodoxă Sfantul Mucenic Mina (Orthodox Church of Holy Martyr Mina) is built in the Maramures style (Northern Romania). Therefore its architecture is not typical of the Dobredja region and at first sight I assumed it to be purely a tourist attraction, representative of another part of Romania. Whilst portraying a much earlier epoch, the church was only constructed in the 1990s. Being just a short distance from the resort of Mamaia this reinforces my suspicion that it was built for touristic purposes. However, I discovered that it is a living and working church with a faithful congregation. It is also a work of art, constructed virtually wholly from wood, charmingly decorated in a rustic style and kept in very good condition. The grounds and out-buildings are delightful too and the church's position on the lake made it an altogether lovely stop on our sightseeing tour.

    Spectacular view at sunset
The wood church is very nice located in the park, with the lake aside. Sun is reflecting in the water, you can make sensational pictures with the church. The priests are nice and people coming here too.
