Unique and unexpected building!
The Mosque is a building that speaks about a unique history of a region from the South-Est part of Romania. A small territory that brings together all the nationalities of Romania in one single place. Unexpected because of the place where is situated, meaning next to the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Church and Jews Temple, they are all like small walking distance or even more, you may consider them neighbor buildings. Inside the Mosque, there is another treasure you have to discover. A rug specially made for this building by a community of Turks from the South-West part of Romania. This Turk community was on an island by the Danube River, but, as the construction for the Iron Gate Dam was in progress during the communist era, the island and this community disappeared. So, in conclusion, you have to visit the Mosque, if in Constanta!

Commercialized - Yet Interesting
As a Christian visiting a historic mosque it was an interesting experience. There is a front patio area where you pay to enter and a large open room for worship downstairs. Look up! The ceiling is beautiful! Then climb the narrow concrete spiral staircase for many floors until you reach the tower. The 360 degree views were spectacular. We stayed up there a long time, overlooking the city, praying for Romania. Note that social distancing is absolutely impossible given the narrow staircase and narrow balcony. Please be mindful it is a place of worship, despite it being commercialized, someone may be there praying. Recently, it’s been lit up at night with neon colors. Odd.
