The Cazino of an Elegant Past

This marvelous building and its surrounding park setting is right on the Black Sea just down from the Old Town section of Constanta. Sunrise and sunsets are magical times here during all seasons. We like to stroll and think of our own romantic walks for the past 30 years, but there's plenty of new couples out and about now, too. Some good newer clubs and restaurants nearby, so you can sit and sip as you contemplate an era gone by. I hope some entrepreneur figures a way to revitalize the Cazino itself into its old glory.

under stormy skies...
The waterfront near the Casino in Constanta is definitely a very nice area to walk , regardless the season. Been there for a short stroll in October ... under a dark sky the Black Sea was enraged by a storm and due to the high winds wave more than 1 m high were clashing against the shore. A wild and beautiful spectacle. So even that the weather was less than the perfect - it was an interesting experience and once the Casino will be refurbished for sure it will be once more a perfect place for relaxing, taking a walk , seating at one of the terraces for some drinks ... Indeed a nice place to take a walk.

Once upon a time ...
... this picturesque waterfront used to be a marvelous place, dominated by the majestic building of the Casino. I remember how impressive the place was in my childhood and I still have some pictures taken by my father, long time ago, with the Casino in the background. Nowadays, the Casino is nothing but a sadly neglected ruin. The local authorities in Constanta don't seem to care much about the city's historical buildings. However, this short waterfront - Faleza - is still the loveliest place in Constanta for a stroll or a jogging session. The waves, the breeze, the seagulls, the statues, the trees and flowers made you feel like walking on a shoreline park. At the other end of the waterfront there's another vintage building under renovation (apparently an old hotel or club)
