Our experience at Bako National Park was amazing with Alex Wee. He is a very knowledgable guide and can explain all the natural phenomena occurring and answer our queries. In addition, he knows the various routes very well and is able to advise us on which trail to take based on our time constraint and physical fitness. Lastly, he does not hide his passion for the wildlife and nature of the island and tries his best to spot elusive creatures such as the probiscus monkeys to make our trip worthwhile. He is like a walking encyclopaedia He is also very friendly and humble and caring. Fluently in English and Hokkien. Chinese is ok. For contact purposes: +60 11-2363 9286 See more..

The nationalpark offers nice trails, which are very good signaled and clean. For the entrance you pay 20rm and you have to sign in and out at the headquarter. The staff at the headquarter is very friendly and helpful, they explain you the trails. They show you a good map (with the trails and emergency callnumbers) of which you can take a picture See more..

The park is opened to public but all the trails, except the view point trail, are closed because the bridge is under repair. Entrance fees of RM20 per person for non-malaysians. There is no food or drink stall so bring your own food and drinks. Wear long sleeve shirt and long pants as there are many mosquitoes. We were warned of crocodiles in the area so strictly no swimming at the beach. The accommodations (hostal and lodge) are not available for booking so only day trip is possible. See more..

    Loagan Bunut National Park image
We booked a trip to Loagan Bunut with Mutiara Homestay Resort. A day before the trip, we were informed the water level was low (2 ft) & were given a choice to proceed or cancel the trip. We proceed with low expectation, well no lake tour. The journey fr Miri took 2 hrs. The road conditions is good except for early part due to a hiway construction. We were greeted by our host, Mr Roland, who took us to his homestay via a boat. Despite low water level, the boat ride from PHQ to the resort was smooth with an awesome views. The homestay is beautiful, unique & very clean. The views of sunrise & sunset from the homestay were beyond words. As there’s no lake tour, we spent our time taking pics, chatting with our friendly hosts (Mr Roland & Mdm Doreen), cooking our dinner & breakfast. We made a good decision to visit the lake when the water is low as it offers a different scenic view. Overall the trip was above our expectations. Will go again when the water level is high.
