  6. 4.0 Chapelle Ste Agnès Vineyard (106 reviews)
    - Open under new management
    Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 AM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Chapelle Ste Agnès Vineyard image
DESCRIPTION: Located in the Sutton Mountains of southern Quebec, the Chapelle Ste Agnes vineyard was established in 1997 by Henrietta Antony, a Montreal antique dealer and is family-owned. Today, you can enjoy a Guided Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting, purchase wine, stay at one of the Rooms or Suites, or plan an Event on the estate. The vineyard is named after a stone chapel built several years earlier on the same site and consecrated to Saint Agnes, a thirteenth century Bohemian saint. The vineyard which also offers lodging year around, has almost 7000 vines and is focused on the production of icewine and other dessert wines and a limited amount of white table wine and rose. Built on a steep hillside with massive stone walls supporting 18 terraces, the rows of vines follow the gentle curve of the hillside, creating a veritable amphitheatre. The cellars of the Chapelle Ste Agnes vineyard are a large medieval style underground complex, where temperature and humidity are almost constant year round. The cellars consist of four underground levels, and feature a number of stone barrel and cross vaults that were built by a master stone cutter from France and by vault masters from southern Moravia. In order to build these vaults, dozens of varying and specialized forms needed to be constructed. The end result is a medieval style cellar complex dedicated to the production and storage of our wines. The vineyard is located about 1 hour 20 minutes from Montreal, just a couple of miles north of the Vermont border. We are also located in the Eastern Townships which is a beautiful part of Quebec and offers many interesting and tasty restaurants, B&B's, is home to many high-end craftsmen and artists, and provides a wonderful playground for sports enthusiasts. I think this is the best meal I got out of this trip. I like the atmosphere of this place. Casual. Good for big or small group. I would go back definitely. I really like the salad, which comes with the dishes we ordered. Restaurant and ice cream shop are upstairs. Downstairs you will find wine and other merchandises. The fire place is a nice touch since it was a cold day when we visited. I am a big fan of the cassis (black currant) juice, but not the wines. See more..

Putting heart and soul into cultivation. 1997 : Buy 255 acres of land and then, had an idea of great magnitude to revitalize the land… 2001 : planted his first vines. Not that he wanted to become a winemaker; rather, he enjoyed growing grapes which he intended to sell to local wineries. But life is unpredictable and, fortunately, offers many wonderful surprises! Richard fell in love with the new culture and the opportunities it offered. He became a true grape grower and began to turn the fruit into divine drinks! Hence, the grape varieties that now grow on the family land, such as Sainte-Croix, Vandal-Cliche, Seyval Noir, Vidal, Frontenac Blanc and Frontenac Noir are what led. Our goal is to create wines of excellent quality. Wines with balance, complexity, and harmony. Our style has often been described as “a genuine and simple beauty, wrapped up in one of the most scenic areas”. We hope to offer each client a little taste of our true passion of the art of winemaking. See more..

    Isle de Bacchus Vinery image
I stopped by this vineyard after seeing a sign on the side on the road in Iles d'Orleans. I'm so glad that I decided to stop. When you enter the shop, the staff welcomes you with a smile and are happy to des their wines to you. I tasted 3 of their wines for $10 on there beautiful terrace. You can choose from any of their wines which is great... if you're not too indecisive. The terrace over looks the grapes, the river and into mainland Quebec. My favourite was their Reserve red wine. Although pricey, it's a very well rounded, smooth and light tasting wine. I could drink it all day long. I also walked away with the Vendange tardive, which isn't too sweet and has fresh peach flavours. Perfect way to spend the afternoon. Can't wait to return! See more..

The experience at this winery was absolutely wonderful. My 9 friends and I attended this establishment, mid-covid, and with the help of Romy, our incredible sommelier, we took part in an experience we will not soon forget. Our entire group was impressed with Romy’s charisma, knowledge of her products and sense of humour. Without her, the experience would not have been the same. We were delighted to discover the delicious and truly unique specialty wines they had to offer. We left with multiple cases of wine and will soon return for more. - the 10 monarchs See more..

This is a very well marked route on country roads that take you to twelve wineries. More than half of the wineries have free tastings, and the others have a charge. The whites are particularly good in Quebec. The drive is very beautiful--we couldn't have asked for a better way to pass the day. We visited this winery as a stop on the “Carnet de Gustation” self-guided tasting tour. Our coupon provided tastings of four wines for two people. We tried a white, rose, red, and a fortified wine. Our lovely hostess, who spoke excellent English and provided interesting commentary, allowed us to share samples of two different vintages of the rose and the red wine. Both of us thought that all six wines were excellent, and the best we tried on this trip. The tasting room is attractive and atmospheric, and the grounds are beautiful. Definitely a worthwhile stop. 26. 4.0 Domaine Labranche (23 reviews)
    - Quebec Agri-tourism at its best
    Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Domaine Labranche image
The pioneer passion and determination still flow in our veins Domaine Labranche starts with the story of the Desgroseilliers family, fueled by the daily passion and fun as eight generations worked the land of Quebec’s Roussillon region. The family members have the true character of their proud ancestor Medard Chouart des Groseilliers, an adventurer with legendary bravery, a trapper and reckless traveler. He led the first ship that reached Hudson Bay by the northern sea routes. Back from this successful mission in 1670, he was instrumental in creating the Hudson Bay Company. After the British conquest in 1772, Joseph Prosper, great-grandson of Medard, moved his family close to St. Isidore where now, much like the first settlers, he devoted himself passionately to agriculture. Pleasures to share Over the generations, the Desgroseilliers family diversified its agricultural activities to share the treasures produced on their land with the general public. In the 1920s, in every spring, Willie tapped maple trees located on his land to produce maple syrup for his family and some grocery stores in Montreal. The maple business became so big that Willie built a small shack in the middle of the sugar bush, a friendly gathering place in which to receive family and friends. This is the spirit that still persists today, at the Labranche sugar shack. But why stop there? From the branch whence the sap flows in the spring, there are vines and apples that bear their fruit in the fall. From the spirit of the most recent generation born in 2009, the Domaine Labranche now includes the maple sugar business, a cider mill and winery, where liquor is now produced from the fertile lands of St. Isidore, where you’ll find unique products that highlight the uniqueness of Quebec lands. True to their origins, the Desgroseilliers family deepen their skills, working in harmony with nature, and continue on their quest to introduce and offer high- quality innovative products. See more..

    Vignoble La Mission image
I went to visit the vineyard after a magnificent diner at the restaurant Europea, in Montreal where I tasted the red wine of the Mission with my tender and tasty Angus beef. Having asked the sommelier were this wine was from he mentioned the Vignoble de la Mission about 80 kilometers away from Montreal. The driving was quiet eventless and I discovered a sign by the highway. It said showing an elk i think, beware the animal is not always only on the sign. Having reached our destination, we meet Jean Christophe and Myriam the owners and were introduced to there other products. I was surprised by their fortified wine kind of Porto taste great with all kinds of Foie gras. The late harvest is magnificent nearly as good as one from Alsace, France. Not to mention the vin de glace, harvested during very low temperatures. The visit is really worthwhile especially with the very kind reception of the owners. See more..

My boyfriend and I with an another couple had gotten a coupon on tuango for this winery. What a waste! The wines we tasted were very, very dry, which I am not a fan and you could taste how young the vines are, no body. If at least the owner was passionate about what he's doing; but he was borderline rude, gave us the bare minimum explanation, barely gave us time to swallow before serving us the next wine. The white wine was terrible and lucky us we were giving one with the tuango coupon. We gave it away to the other couple we were with who will probably make a sangria out of it. The taste of the white wine, so dry and long, wrecked the rest of the tasting for me because it was always in the background of my palate. We were not served a chaser in between the tasting of different wine which made it difficult to appreciate the others. The pink wine was also dry and the red wine was lighter in color than a pinot noir but make no mistake still was dry. And there are not bathroom on site!!! You have to go in the parking lot in one of those stinky plastic ones! I didn't rated this review "terrible" because I think that in a few years, when the vines will mature and trials and errors will be over there might come something out of it. Also, the land was very nice. See more..

We stopped at Les Petits Cailloux on our vineyards tour and were immediately impressed. Beautiful picturesque landscape and peaceful surroundings. Delicious wine and the owner was very knowledgeable, evident not only by the passion displayed by the owner, but also by the tastes of these lovely local wines. This was our favourite out of the 4 vineyards that we visited. Lovely experience and hope to go again some day! See more..
