  5. 4.5 Parc National Du Fjord-du-Saguenay (339 reviews)
    - Gorgeous Baie-Sainte-Marguerite - Belugas!
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Parc National Du Fjord-du-Saguenay image
We camped at Baie-Sainte-Marguerite for three nights, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our campsite was on the water, so we had a fantastic view of the tide coming and going, beautiful sunsets, and gorgeous starry nights. It was a short walk to the lookout with the beluga interpreter. We could climb down to the beach from our campsite, where we swam and watched the belugas playing for hours. They were so close we could hear the sound of their breathing! The walk in is 2.3km, but it's a nice gravel pathway with just a few small hills - I would consider a bicycle on a future trip. The park rents carts, which we didn't know in advance. We were quite pleased to discover that we didn't need to pack everything in on our own backs. The only hitch is that you have to take everything across the suspension bridge by hand and then repack into a different cart. We were also a bit surprised to find a very nice pavillion with flush toilets and a large room with tables and a sink where we could do dishes. We were lucky to have good weather but it was nice to know that there was a place to go for shelter if the weather turned ugly. Overall, an amazing experience and we plan to do it again. See more..

    Kanatha-Aki Nature Activity Center image
We visited the place twice! Even though the first time we did not manage to experience what we came for, namely, hand fishing (because we came after 5 pm, it was closed), we still did not regret a bit. We saw the beautiful huskies, very friendly, eager to play and pose for photos! The second time we properly booked our visit in advance. Our guide Leana (also speaks English) took us on a private tour along a trail to the place on the mountain forest stream where the fish stays during the daytime. Our kids (5 y.o. and 10 y.o.) caught 4 trouts and were so happy! Leana told us a lot of interesting facts about the fish, the bisons who live nearby (unfortunately we only saw them from a long distance) and the first nations. We were excited to see a real tipi there as well, and even got inside. We enjoyed the day! And the trout happened to be delicious :) See more..

We stumbled upon the Chute Kabir Kouba accidentally after lunch and what a delightful find. The Kabir Kouba waterfall is part of the St Charles river trail, but you can walk and view just this section of the trail. If you park your car in the parking area behind the restaurant Sagamite, you will see the beginning of a long series of stairs which end at the pool of the waterfall. You then cross a wooden bridge and climb up another series of stairs, the top of which is the main road. If you turn left, you can loop back to the carpark. It was a short, fun activity. See more..

I reserved the special private tour. It takes place at 8:30 am, an hour and a half before the opening of the park. Our tour guide Marie-Fredérique was perfectly bilingual and very knowledgeable. She was also very accommodating, a real gem! We started the tour with a walk around the closest pens with birds. All the animals were out and about since it was early and cool. We met a friendly porcupine named Chewbaca and fed him some almonds, we continued our visit to finally come to the moose pen, where we were let in and fed them some apples, it was absolutely fabulous. We were also given the chance to visit the nursery, kitchen and hospital. We had our wonderful guide for 4 1/2 hours. This is a wonderful experience, a must for every animal lover. See more..

    Pourvoirie Domaine Bazinet image
We booked a stay here during the semaine de relache (Quebec March Break) and absolutely loved it. From the beautiful cabin to the great view of the frozen lake, everything was picturesque. The cabins open right onto the lake, which made it so easy to just walk out to the ice fishing area. They have several snowshoeing trails, including one that uses stuffed animals as trail markers. Our 4 year old loved that so much. We had the opportunity to see a red deer and some animals at the farm, hike to a frozen waterfall, go skating at their outdoor rink, tubing down the hill, snowshoeing and ice fishing (all this in 3 days/2 nights). Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic and the people were amazingly friendly and were very accommodating to the fact that I didn't speak much French. The staff went above and beyond, including when we got stuck in the snow on our arrival date and they sent their own plow to help us get up a tricky hill. This experience was so wonderful that my two boys (4 and 7) have already been asking if we can go back in the summer. We absolutely want to come back again and have been telling our friends about this place. See more..

We went here with friends who live in the area and even got to meet the man who originally built it. The stone circle is made out of granite stones from the nearby rock quarry of Stanstead and is worth a quick stop. Stopped in here on a whim. This nature park is has a few campsites and glamping structures but you can also just do a visit. It’s at the end of a long peninsula with a combination of sal marsh, sand dunes, boreal forest and red pine plantation. Even though we visited in the busiest tourist weeks, there was hardly any one there. We were welcomed and given all the info we needed then walked the 1.8 km trail along the salt marsh and through the dunes. We were 4 of us, hiking yesterday (since it was below zero, we could go in our microspikes instead of snowshoes). It was a fantastic day, lovely trails, good views, and not crowded. We went early and did both the orange and pink loops. The pink one seems more popular and is more spectacular, but it's worthwhile doing it all. The price is very reasonable. Facilities are few: 10 pairs of snowshoes for rent, a few drinks and snacks to buy, and indoor toilets when the center is manned, which seems to be on the weekends. I had never even heard of this place, but will surely be back. See more..

Of the many bays and coves along the St. Lawrence River, this is the prettiest one, bar none, but somewhat off the beaten track. As you get closer to the river, the narrow country road can be a bit delicate to negotiate, especially when there is some oncoming traffic. But not to worry, there's hardly any, and it will be worth the relatively short drive of about 3 kilometers. Many come to the cove for a picnic or to sunbath on the rocks, others like to hike the lovely and peaceful forest trails up into the hills, and still others just to watch the incoming and outgoing tides. What a glorious scenery when the fall colors are reflected in the sometimes mirror-like bay in early mid-October. See more..

Kiskotuk: Land revealed at low tide, in Maliseet Parc côtier Kiskotuk is nearly 30 kilometres of breathtaking coastal scenery – where the St. Lawrence Estuary, mountains, marshes and islands come together in perfect harmony with farms and fields. The park is organized around seven Discovery Areas distributed along the coast in the municipalities of Cacouna, L’Isle-Verte and Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs (Île Verte) in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec. Come fall under the spell of the St. Lawrence and breathe the salt breeze off the estuary as you enjoy the many outdoor activities available in the park or stay in the cabins and campsites surrounded by captivating landscapes! 50. 4.5 Parc Jack Layton (17 reviews)
    - Small Beautiful Place

This is a small beautiful place with great views of the Ottawa river. There are lots of benches where you can sit and enjoy the place and the view. There is nothing else to do there as the place, as I said, is very small. But it’s free and clean and nice. If you’re lucky and there is no noisy people around or nobody else doing BBQ and filling the place with smoke (which was the case when we went), you will have a really enjoyable experience by the water. One suggestion: there is a nice parking lot there, but it’s only for residents and there is a warning of 250$ fine (Apparently Hudson parking is more expensive than downtown Montreal). So, if you don’t mind walking 5 minutes, park at the train station, where is free, and take a stroll to the park and save. See more..
