Wonderful day with vikings

The visit to Ribe Viking Center was very exciting. I was able to put my hand on various attractions and try archery, woodwork, knitting with needle. The vikings who were in the houses were happy to answer the questions and I gained a lot of new knowledge. The Center also has a farm with many animals: cows, sheep’s, pig with piglets and some friendly cats. In the middle of the day there was an exciting bird show and in addition you could see a cool performance where viking played with fire and did some juggling.

Very well done, with good docents, and lots of activities
Europe is full of outdoor village museums depicting historic or folkloric ways of life, but this one always had something going on - falconry, blacksmithing, even a truncated church service, all run by well-informed and friendly docents (in costume). The interiors of the re-created Viking lodges were amazingly detailed, and the park setting very nice. I would also say that the children's playground featured beautiful carved wooden "creatures" from Norse mythology, all serving as a sort of obstacle course with rope bridges, rings and bars. The children loved it, and there was not a piece of plastic in sight. The food available there was nice and affordable.

    Great place for kids
My wife and I didn’t really know what to expect. We visited Ribe and by chance decided to visit the Viking Center. The timing was out of season with mild COVID restrictions, this meant very low attendance but the center still presented us with an enjoyable time. We spend about 2.5-3 hours walking the center and visiting the different buildings and such. The people working there was dressed as vikings and brought a nice authentic feeling to the place. If you know nothing about the Nordic Viking culture then this is a great visit. The place is definitely aimed at kids. The restaurant didn’t offer anything interesting and we decided to go elsewhere for food afterwards, which was a shame as we had hoped to get some Viking inspired food. Location is great, if you are in Ribe to see the cathedral as it is just a 2-3 min drive from the town center.
