    Lydgate Farms Kauai Chocolate image
Lydgate Farms is run by our fifth generation Kaua’i family. Our farm has twice been recognized as producing one of the best tasting chocolates in the world by the Cocoa of Excellence Awards in Paris, France (2017, 2021). We grow high-quality cacao to make the finest craft chocolate. We also grow award-winning vanilla and honey. Our 46-acre farm sits above the town of Kapa’a, between Sleeping Giant and Mt. Wai’ale’ale. Lydgate Farms is in an ahupua’a (land division) named Olohena, known for its rolling hills and the numerous springs and rivers that make this valley fertile for growing. Often called the Garden Island, Kaua’i is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands and, as a result, has the most developed soils and fertile growing conditions. In addition to our specialty crops, you’ll find a wide variety of botanicals around our farm that influence the taste of our honey and chocolate. Visit us in Wailua for an interactive farm tour and chocolate tasting. Book online today. See more..

The four of us, two couples, took the private 2-hour tour with Kawena on Feb. 17, 2022. This was one of the most informative, pleasant tours we’ve ever taken. And, at a total cost of $75 (not per person), it was quite a bargain for what you experience. We got to see the coffee process from growing to bagging, and every step in between. The tour ends with a “cupping” — coffee-speak for tasting — of four different coffees. Kawena was highly personable and gracious, taking time to learn (and remember our names). The farm itself is picturesque and filled with many different fruit trees and exotic plants, plus black pepper and vanilla beans. Amazingly, Greenwell Farms — now run by the sixth generation — also offers a free, 1-hour public tour; but do yourself a favor and book the private tour. You won’t be disappointed. (Be sure to book a morning tour as it gets toasty on the farm.) Thank you, Kawena, for a highly informative and enjoyable morning. Dennis, Debbie, Jeff & Virginia See more..
  5. 4.5 Hula Daddy Kona Coffee (704 reviews)
    - Farm to tongue coffee

    Hula Daddy Kona Coffee image
This truly is a family farm with husband and wife running every aspect. They grow a handful of different types of beans on different parcels and pick, wash, roast and package on site. They have won several international awards with their product and because their house roaster takes copious notes of every batch, they can duplicate the winning formula for us mere humans to buy and brew at home. We bought one each of a handful of bags and will see how well our notes match theirs. See more..

Heavenly Hawaiian Kona Coffee Farm & Konalani Coffee Bar image
We signed up for the Paniolo roasting experience and coffee tour, and thoroughly enjoyed both. Our tour began by checking in, then enjoying coffee samples poolside enjoying the amazing view. We were then greeted by Cooper and Ben, who lead us through the experience of roasting roasting our own coffee Hawaiian cowboys style. Cooper lead the in depth discussion which delivered everything they advertise, including their impact on the Big Island and in Kona Coffee. Ben roasted with our group and assisted with our roasting the coffee beans in cast iron skillets. We had a great time learning the history of Hawaiian cowboys and Kona coffee! 5 star experience and we highly recommend immersing yourself in this experience while visiting the Big Island! See more..

    - Beautiful and fun
    Farms
    Halawa Tropical Flower Farm image
Had a lot of fun chatting while touring their garden, helping gather orders, and learning about the chocolate making process. The flowers are absolutely stunning! Challenging to find, but worth the adventure. After the church, the dirt road will fork and you need to go straight/left not right. Then you start looking for the grass hut. We ended up coming in the back way b/c we went right now knowing/got to a bridge owned by the ranch/then followed a grass trail to them. See more..
