4.0Waikiki Beach(18.7k reviews) - Very busy but beautiful beaches Beaches
This iconic landmark in Waikiki is one of Hawaii’s most famous beaches, located on the south shore of Oahu. Waikiki Beach is the birthplace of modern surfing culture—look out for the statue of renowned waterman Duke Kahanamoku, who popularized the sport internationally. Once the playground of Hawaiian royals, today the beachfront is lined with resorts and some of Hawaii’s most historic hotels. Surfers, swimmers, and sunbathers flock to this beach all day long. Boat tours in Waikiki are a great way for admiring the coast away from the crowds. Neighboring Kalākaua Avenue has plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. – TripadvisorSee more..

This stunning three-mile stretch of sand is regarded as one of North America's best beaches, and it's easy to see why. This former Hawaiian royal getaway has crystal clear waters perfect for snorkeling and surfing, against a backdrop of lush mountains. Don't miss the daily cliff diving ceremony at Pu'u Keka'a (Black Rock), held on the northern end of the beach at sunset. For the best views of the beach, take a scenic flight at sunset. If you visit in winter, be sure to take a whale-watching tour. It gets busy, so visit early in the morning for fewer crowds and to snag a good spot on the sand. – TripadvisorSee more..

This easily accessible beach lies between the towns of Pahala and Naalehu, and is a popular detour when visiting the Volcanoes National Park. It draws both locals and travelers to its shores for its gorgeous black sand—a result of underwater volcanic activity—and for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive and endangered hawksbill and green sea turtles. If you're lucky, you might spot these creatures resting on the warm, black sand. Hawaiian monk seals sometimes make a rare appearance, too. Tours of the Big Island often include a stop at this black sand beach, along with Akaka and Rainbow Falls. – TripadvisorSee more..

Great beach, white sand, good facilities. Hot tip, go as early in the day as possible to avoid the crowds and get a park close to the beach. We got there around 930am and by the time we left at midday, the beach was absolutely packed (too full). @cwenzel_See more..
Nicknamed Turtle Beach, this unique location is home to a population of Hawaiian green turtles that bask on its sandy shores during the day. Observe these gentle creatures from a safe distance, and watch them make their way through the rough waves that hit the beach. Volunteers are on hand to ensure that the turtles are not disturbed, and there are signs with information and rules. Laniakea Beach is understandably popular with tourists and locals alike—visiting in the morning when the turtles are active and for fewer crowds. You'll have a better chance of seeing turtles in the summer. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Shipwreck Beach(1.214 reviews) - Take the long trail hike! Beaches

This serene cove on the northwestern tip of Maui is known as one of the most beautiful spots in Hawaii. Sunbathe on the soft white sand and snorkel in the warm, calm, crystal-clear waters. This small beach can get crowded—arrive early to get a good spot, or come later in the afternoon for a vibrant sunset. We loved Kamaole Beach II, it was such a lovely beach to swim and boogie board at and each fish and chips at sunset at the nearby tables and seats (be sure to try Coconuts Fish Cafe or Maui Fish and Chips at Dolphin Plaza one night during your Maui stay). I also appreciated the fact that there was a lifeguard on duty and, outdoor showers, toilets and parking nearby too. I love this part of Maui and highly recommend going to Kamaole Beach II (or any of the three Kamaole beaches)!!See more..

4.5Tunnels Beach(941 reviews) - Great beach…Difficult access Beaches
Also known as Makua Beach, Tunnels Beach gets its nickname from the maze of lava tubes found throughout its expansive reef. Here, you'll find lots of marine life—large schools of reef fish, turtles and even wild dolphins—making it one of the best spots for snorkeling in Kauai. Visit during summer for calm waters or during winter when it becomes a surfer's paradise. You can also simply stroll down the white sand beach and enjoy views of the scenic green peaks of Mount Makana to the west. Tours of Kauai often include a stop here; you can even fly over the beach on a helicopter tour. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Anini Beach(929 reviews) - Xmas holiday- have the Anini Beach to ourselves Beaches
This well-shaded, sinuous beach is home to one of the largest fringing reefs in Hawaii, and an excellent spot for swimming and snorkeling. It’s one of the safest beaches on Kauai, making it especially popular amongst families with kids. Green sea turtles, Hawaii’s state fish (triggerfish), and tropical reef fish are examples of common marine life you can spot in the area. For those keen on trying watersports, windsurfing is exceptionally popular due to the steady winds. Otherwise, roll out your beach gear on one of the tranquil sandy inlets and enjoy the privacy. Come early and score a picnic pavilion for splendid views. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Sunset Beach Park(917 reviews) - Beautiful if you don't want to swim! Beaches
Beautiful place for watching the sunset and surfers. NOT a place to really get in the water unless you are surfing - maybe it is calmer in the summer. The sand here will have you sinking a bit as you walk around, so get ready for some exercise if you plan on doing that. Parking is along the road in most access places, I am not sure if we missed an actual parking lot, but plan ahead for spotty parking. We got dinner after this nearby at Seven Brothers Burgers, but it would have been extra nice to have takeout on the beach itself during the sunset.See more..
4.5Shark's Cove(786 reviews) - My favorite thing we did on Oahu Beaches
These rocky tidal pools in Pupukea’s Marine Life Conservation District on Oahu’s north shore are famous for snorkeling and scuba diving. Despite its name, there are no sharks to be found here, but the cove boasts an impressive variety of marine life, including schools of fish, octopuses, sea turtles, and thriving coral. Visit in summer when the waters are calm, as the winter’s waves make for dangerous conditions. There are restrooms and limited parking but no lifeguards on duty. Also, wear water shoes as it’s easy to lose footing on the sharp and slippery rocks. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Waimanalo Beach(740 reviews) - Best Beach Beaches • Parks
Located on the windward side of Oahu, this gorgeous and secluded beach has the majestic Koolau Mountains as a backdrop. It's great for sunbathing under the ironwood trees on the soft white sand and swimming in its clear waters—the waters are calmer in the morning and kick up in the afternoon when it’s breezier. The beach is a quiet refuge on weekdays but is a popular spot for locals on the weekend who gather for all-day barbecues and beach fun. You'll also see anglers chartering boats to fish at sea. Check out this beach on a tour or helicopter ride over Oahu, which often passes by Waimanalo Beach. – TripadvisorSee more..
4.5Ulua Beach(671 reviews) - Lovely beach for a chill day Beaches
This crescent-shaped bay in Kauai is the largest bay on the north shore, with stunning views and gorgeous beaches. Start at Black Pot Beach and head towards Hanalei Pier—an unmistakable landmark jetty made famous by the classic film, South Pacific—before walking towards Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park. Find a good spot along the bay to set down your towels—you can have a picnic, kayak, sunbathe, and even snorkel if the waters are calm (the waves can be rough during winter). Stay until sunset for exceptionally amazing views of Mount Makana in the distance. Hanalei Bay is a featured stop on many Kauai boat tours; some even help you to look for green sea turtles. – TripadvisorSee more..
Just spent an amazing week visiting this beach daily from sun up to sun down with family from 90yrs to 7 yrs. Best waves, best water temperature, uncrowded beach, multiple turtle and whale sightings. 4.5Little Beach(519 reviews) - Same as ever Beaches
We visited twice in November on Monday and Friday ( sign says closes at 7 on weekdays and 4 pm on sat and sun so we didn’t go on the weekend). It was the same as ever except for more oppressive signs stating no nudity an no several other things as well as a large open but lockable gate as you go up the lava path to cross from big to little beach. Signs say $10 to park and $5 per person to visit. We parked on the road outside the lot and never paid either. There are machines to pay for parking but no idea how to pay entry per person. No officials ever in sight. Very one was nude and chill at the beach and it was wonderful as in the past which was a relief. Everyone was respectful and friendly.See more..
The drive to/towards the beach is scenic. From Lanai city down the winding road towards the beach has views of Maui, Molokai and ultimately the beaches. Once parking at the end of the road, it is roughly a 5-10 minute walk depending on the path. Note - having a 4x4 jeep or similar is ideal.See more..
4.5Papohaku Beach Park(151 reviews) - Waves, Whales and Wonderful Memories State Parks • Beaches
Quiet, secluded, large waves and simply a wonderful experience is a description of this location. There is a public access area for patrons along with the homes on the beach. That stated very few people were seen on the beach. One of the days whales about a 1/2-1 mile off shore pods of whales were seen jumping out of the water. Could spend a whole day there enjoying the water and seclusion.See more..

If you ever have an opportunity to visit Kauai, Hawaii I would highly recommend a trip to the NaPali Coast. It appears that there are a variety of tours to view the NaPail Coast. Some people take a rafting excursion, others take a helicopter/small plane tours, and then there are those who attempt to hike the eleven miles on the quite challenging Kalalau Trail. I believe the Sierra Club has rated the NaPali Coast Kalalau Trail a 9 out of 10 for hiking difficulty. I chose the aircraft (60mins.) option and I must admit it was an amazing trip because it was the easiest option. I was thrilled to see one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The NaPail Coast definitely equals unimaginable beauty. I suggest you add this adventure to your bucket list. It is well worth your time. However, please do your research before booking any tour because tour choice can make of break your experience. Enjoy your visit to the NaPali Coast!!See more..
Murphys Beach is also referred to as 20 mile beach, as it sits at the 20 mile marker on the road. Beach area is protected by the fringe reef so there is no big surf here. There is shade, sand is nice, and it’s really easy to park right up next to where you want to sit. This is not a beach to boogie board, swim, or surf. Very shallow with rocks and coral. Generally ther is enough sand in the water to get out about thigh deep and take a dip to cool off. Surprisingly there are few people here as it’s one of the easier beaches to access on Molokai. Water clarity is clear and if you are okay with coral and rocks 12-13 “ under you while snorkeling, it’s fair. Most people say snorkeling in the wintertime on Molokai isn’t very good because of the winter swell and I totally agree. See more..
4.5Kepuhi Beach(51 reviews) - Easy west side beach Beaches
Some of the nicest beaches on this side of Molokai require 4 wheel drive or hours of hiking. This beach, reminiscent of similar beaches in Wailea, Maui, has the need accoutrements of civilization (a store to buy drinks, parking, showers) while still beholden to the wild vagaries of Molokai waters. In the winter, only for experts. In any season, a great place to experience the green flash of sunset, with Oahu in the background. See more..
4.0Waialua Beach(18 reviews) - Snorkeling from Beach #1 on Molokai Beaches
Two beaches in Molokai are "beach snorkelable," with the other being Dixie Maru on the far southwest side. Murphy Beach (aka Waialua) is great for kids, as it is shallow, probably maximum 3ft out 100 ft and protected especially inside the old rock wall rubble. Almost no fish inside the rock pile. Outside, there are few, so intermediate to advance snorkelers probably not so happy due to fish shortage. However, there are small fragments of colorful coral and the shallow waters make the beach great for kids. There also are some good shade trees to rest beneath. Wheelchair accessibility would only be one of the new rugged terrain wheelchairs or to stay in one of the parking areas, which is doable.See more..

5.0Kawakiu Beach(8 reviews) - Beautiful beach - takes work to get to it! Beaches
On a hike towards Ilio Point in January of 2010 (never got all the way there), I passed Kawakiu Beach. I spent a bit of time enjoying the spot, and was the only one there the whole time. It's about a mile or so north of the west-end condos. The "road", if you can call it that, will take your 4WD vehicle's abilities to the edge. I was happy to get back without rolling mine onto it's side! In retrospect walking would have been safer. There were some other footprints in the sand; no telling how long they had been there. It may be possible to get to the beach the LONG way from the Mo'omomi area, but I doubt it - there are likely locked gates along the many miles of dirt roads one would have to use. I made a little webpage with pictures of Kawakiu Beach - enjoy! http://stevenmichelsen.com/Molokai/Ilio_point/See more..
4.0Naha Beach(5 reviews) - End of the road Beaches
Naha is the area at the end of the road the goes along the eastern (Maui-facing) shore of Lanai. If you go there's a good chance you won't see anyone else around. There are a couple of interesting things to see. One is the remains of an old Hawaiian fishpond out in the water. Look for a large circle of rocks extending from the shore - it's fairly easy to spot. (I posted a photo.) The other is an old Hawaiian stone paved path/road. To see this you have to hike a very short distance (five minutes or so) from the end of the road and angle uphill a little. It should be fairly obvious that it is a man-made path of stones fitted together. It seems to extend maybe a quarter of a mile up the slope before it gets harder to follow. (I also posted a photo of this.) There are nice views of Maui from up on the slope - you might even see the ferry that goes back and forth from Lahaina.See more..
The stop is not that long, but the views are simply amazing especially in the afternoon. The view up and down the coast is worth the stop along with the photo opportunities.See more..
