  1. 4.0 Senkoji & Senkoji Park (686 reviews)
    - Top site in Onomichi

    Senkoji & Senkoji Park image
I went here in both the summer and the spring. Spring is by far the nicer time to visit with the cherry blossoms in bloom. In the summer it can be quite hot so I would recommend the rope-way because the climb is quite steep. Its a great place to look around and the view is quite nice. For those that use the Shinkansen, the park is near Onomichi station and not Shin-Onomichi station. Its about 2 miles (4 km) from the shinkansen. So you will need to take a taxi to get to the park from the Shinkansen. The easiest solution is to get off the Shinkansen in Mihara and change trains to the local train that goes to Onomichi station. Tsunoshima Lighthouse Park image
We came here on a organised tour and it was a pleasure to view and visit this lovely lighthouse built in 1876. Built with lovely carved stone it is set in front of a unique garden setting next to the ocean. Cost 300 yen to enter, about 200 steps to the top where you will have lovely views. I think it is about 26 metres high and about 45 metres above sea level. Not much info in English. It's light is visible for about 29 nautical miles. Next to it is a museum which is worth visiting, inside is part of the light keepers old brick residence. I found it interesting that the first lightkeeper was English. Worth a visit when in the area See more..

    Tsuyama Castle (Kakuzan Park) image
The remnants of a big fortress are a fun and free walk. It's a good place to have a picnic, overlooking the city and the mountains. During Sakura, this is one of the more famous places in Western Japan to see the trees as it is covered in cherry blossoms. Highly recommended, but if you want a nice place to picnic you must get there early (and stay after dark for some more cool pictures as it's lit up, just bring a tripod!) See more..

    Mimosusogawa Park image
After walking from Kyushu to Yamaguchi under the sea through the pedestrian tunnel this park appears on the Shimonoseki side. There are statues of warriors of ancient history and replica cannons that guard the straits from intruders. The cannons puff smoke at times. You can also get a great view of the bridge and see the strong currents when the tides change. See more..
  7. 4.0 Tokiwa Park (100 reviews)
    - Great place for an afternoon stroll
    Parks
    Tokiwa Park image
Not one of the best parks or amusement area, but given that there isn't much else for tourists to do in Ube, Tokiwa Park is a great area for a relaxing afternoon (or morning!) stroll. One could easily spend 3-4 hours in the park. See more..
  8. 4.0 Hinoyama Park (87 reviews)
    - OK view

We took the gondola up, up on the hill the view is OK but there is nothing else. The tourist guide mentioned a revolving restaurant, but everything is closed and worn down. For the best view the tower in Shimonoseki is a better option. See more..

It was opened in April 2001, one of the facilities that make up Kurayoshi Park Square. The official name is Tottori Prefectural Tottori Twentieth Century Pear Memorial Hall, but it was nicknamed Nasukokan in December 2009 and has been used in combination. See more..

Tottori Sand dunes is awesome, weirdly awesome. It clearly doesn't belong, but it's there. Visually stunning set against the ocean the dunes are deceiving as to how large they are. If you have the opportunity to check it out definitely do. See more..
