Mahon Port, Balearic Islands, Spain
4.5 (2.513 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Balearic Islands Marinas
Pure eye candy from our view aboard the Seaborn Quest
This was unexpectedly spectacular. The bluffs between the high and lower city sections could not have more impressive. Everything was so clean and well maintained so as to make this the pristine jewel that it is. How lucky were we, to have this beautiful view upon arrival and departure from the port.

Long walk...consider a taxi.
We walked to the Port area on our first day only to realise that the Port area goes on and on and on. Because Mahon is so hilly it is actually a difficult area to access. Even with the new lift, you are only deposited at the start of the Port area with lots more to walk. We did half the walk on our first day but had to turn back as we were so tired after all our travelling. The next time we visited the port we got a taxi half way along it. The cost to get half way along the Port from Placa Esplanada was €5.88. We felt this cost to be worthwhile as we were able to see the other end of the Port and stop for a few cocktails. The cocktails were strong and somehow the walk back was staggeringly fun.....can't remember much about it really. Good fun.

We stayed here and loved it
The port of Mahon is beautiful and covers a vast area (it isn’t just the harbour in the town itself). If you do visit Mahon for the day then taking a boat trip around the port is a must. If you are visiting for more than a day then take a walk from where you get on the boats along the water’s edge to the area/resort known as “Port Mahon “ which is where we stayed for a week. This is a lovely stroll and you can admire some fabulous yachts and stop for lunch at one of the many waterside restaurants along the way. Please do me aware though that the walk up from the harbour into Mahon town is very steep and not for the faint hearted!
