  5. 5.0 National Heroes Acre (7 reviews)
    - Impressive
    Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries • Monuments & Statues
    National Heroes Acre image
The monument itself is far from town, so grab a cab. As it's so remote, you can pay a few dollars more for them to wait for you. It was funny as the cab driver had never seen the monument before and said he will take his family now too. The monument is quite unique and the museum, even if small, tells of a story I did not know. There's quite a bit to walk, so bring a bottle of water. Stairs too to climb, but totally worth it as you can see the city from the top. Entrance fee is 10$ and you can take pictures too. See more..

    - Sunday Mass
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Catholic Cathedral image
We attended a 7:00 am Sunday Mass (in English) and it was a beautiful experience. We stayed at the Bronte Hotel and walked to the church. Some of the details of the Mass were different from what we experience in the United States, so I would recommend just watching to know when to kneel, stand, sit, etc. The congregation at one point broke out into a beautiful song that was sung in harmony; it was so enriching. Bring your dollars to make a donation as this is not a wealthy parish. See more..

We were a group of 9 adults, arriving approx 10 am and departing after 3 pm Saturday 24th December 2022. After wandering around the gift shops, we paid our $5 each entry into the woodlands. We walked around the area nearest to the entrance including the viewing platform before we stopped for lunch outside on a long table & bench at the onsite coffee shop / restaurant about midday. Once we had filled ourselves, we made our way back to the viewing platform for the 2pm feeding of the animals around the waterhole. I visit this park about once a year and cannot recommend it highly enough. if you are visiting Harare on business or live there and entertain overseas visitors please make sure you go! We arrrived at 0745 am on a Sunday and booked a walking guide who walked us past the crocs and then across the lake close to a rhino. we then walked on past zebra's with a foal, impala herds etc. Later with the same guide we drove and saw a family of white rhino and then got out to watch a family of giraffe with a very young one. OK you will not see lion or elephants but this is just an amazing resource 45 mins drive from town you will feel you are in the middle of the bush. take a bird book. camp in the lodges overnight as a real get away from it all. The Park is quite extensive with a variety of work and great for presents, some Art Pieces are just incredible. Many stones are used to make the sculptures and some are very colorful and beautiful. 20. 4.0 Anglican Cathedral (22 reviews)
    - Very tranquil and serene Church
    Churches & Cathedrals
    Anglican Cathedral image
Be ready to walk into a very tranquil church in the middle of the busy city of Harare. The architecture is amazing and very colonial. Key features to look out for are the beautiful arches and the glass mosaic windows that illuminate when the sun hits them. The corridors that are on either side of the church are magical to walk in thanks to the arches. Wander around the courtyard garden and have a peaceful seat on the benches. When here, one cant tell that they are in such a busy city. Highly recommend and dont forget to leave a small donation. See more..

How wonderful it was to come out to these peaceful gardens, a well needed break from the city life of Harare. We travelled with two kids and an infant. We drove out early morning and stayed until sunset. Children liked the little bamboo forest and all the butterfly surrounding the little café called Aloe Café if I remember correctly. It’s worth the drive out from town! Enjoy the fresh air !! See more..

The gardens have had their heyday and are somewhere between untended to okay at this point. But it is a great place to see local Harare folks relax. A nice change from the downtowny 70s lane it skirts. The ketchup carrying snack providers will come round and are quite sweet natured. See more..
