Me and my father had a fantastic trip to Bac Ha with Thao and his company. Firstly, he made everything so simple and easy. He gave us all the info we needed and even booked our buses to and from Hanoi. He can alter itineraries to fit your needs which is very helpful. The trekking was beautiful. We were looking for something more authentic than Sapa and Bac Ha was perfect. The villages and farms we walked through were full of amazing sights and friendly faces. The homestays had comfy beds, gorgeous views and even more gorgeous food. I am a vegetarian and they catered for my diet with beautiful fresh vegetables from their garden. My one piece if feedback for Thao would be to spend as much time as possible on the dirt tracks in the hills as opposed to walking on the paved roads. Located 22 highway miles (35 km) northwest of Bac Ha the market in Sin Cheng is held every Wednesday morning. Similar to the market in Coc Ly, it is small but very lively. Like all of the markets in Bac Ha, the local Flower Hmong women and girls dress in their best costumes. There is a good-sized area where water buffalo are bought and sold in addition to the usual chickens, ducks, and pigs. The 60-minute drive from Bac Ha town offers spectacular views of the district’s highest peaks. There is no public transportation to Sin Cheng; the closest place to find a bus is 5 miles (8 km) away in Si Ma Cai. Most tourists visit the market as part of an organized tour. Transportation options are limited to hiring a car, renting a motorbike or by motorcycle taxi (xe ôm in Vietnamese) from Bac Ha town. See more..

The views from the train and the cable car are absolutely breathtaking. You get a train to the cable car station, then the cable car to the mountain itself, after that you can get another train that leaves you very close to the top or you could walk. We walked and we’re astounded by the beautiful statues and views. We paid for all trains and cable cars just incase so it totalled about 80ish€ as a couple. I would recommend doing a one day tour to anyone in the area. The valley was beautiful, and walking through the villages and rice fields was a great experience. It was interesting to learn about the minorities and their traditions in the area. One point that I did dislike, was the pushiness of the sales people. While some were very respectful and friendly, others would bother you, literally saying “I’ll leave you alone if you buy something.” This spoiled the experience of the tour a bit, but it was still very much worth it as the views were beautiful. I did the 1 day trekking tour, which I think was enough as many of the views were similar to one another as well as other areas in the North, and included a light hike of about 5 hours as well as lunch. Together with 20 other Anglo-Thai Society Regional Group members, my wife and myself visited the Sapa Dragon Cloud Glass Bridge this morning en route from Sapa to Lai Chau. It is an impressive attraction which only opened in 2019 but it is not a good idea to visit over a weekend when the crowds can be lsrge (ie our Group queued for an hour for the elevator on the way up and 30 minutes for the return journey. Once at the top, however, there are a range of activities besides walking around the main Glass Bridge - this is fine provided you have a head for heights!
