  2. 5.0 Roscommon Zoo (20 reviews)
    - Amazing....
    Zoos

We have been here several time over the past few years, kind of a summer travel destination. They constantly add new animals. It is family owned and you can since the dedication to the well being of the animals as well as a very family friendly environment. You can get right up and feed most of the animals (not the tigers though...lol) I love the tortoises, they are so friendly. I highly recommend this place for families. See more..
  3. 5.0 Fifth Street Market (16 reviews)
    - Outstanding Selection of Beer and Wine
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
Just an outstanding selection of beer and wine; this would be a must-stop wine shop even in a large metropolitan area. You should make a point to stop by if you are looking for an excellent array of quality beer and wine as you travel up (or down) I-75. John is helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. See more..
  4. 5.0 Michigan Fireman's Memorial (13 reviews)
    - An excellent and great tribute to all firefighters
    Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
    Michigan Fireman's Memorial image
Went to this beautiful memorial site for the first time this year and found it to be a very humbling experience. It is a year round memorial about a mile away from Roscommon, Michigan, dedicated to the valiant fallen firefighters from all across the State of Michigan with their names, etched in marble slabs, a large statue of a fireman and various tribute markers, all on a beautifully maintained hillside with sidewalks, stairs and a parking lot. The annual "memorial service" that is held every year, coincides with the Fireman's Festival activities at the fairgrounds, which also has been an annual event for thirty six years. It is not just for firemen, it is for everybody. The Memorial site alone is an excellent and great tribute to all firefighters See more..
  5. 5.0 The Loom Room (1 review)
    - Your Only Destination for Higgins Lake Memorabilia
    Speciality & Gift Shops
Roscommon proper may sadly have little to boast of in the way of retail, but at least in the area of Higgins Lake there exist two gift shops that are pretty much the only purveyors of souvenir apparel/cottage decor in the area. Sister stores located along Higgins Lake Drive, the Loom Room is the larger of the two, and features a wider selection of both clothing and decor than the smaller Weekends at Higgins Lake, including the popular Lake Girl line of clothing. Prices are what you expect to pay for this kind of merchandise, and much, if not most, of the collection appears to change each year. Store hours vary by season and day of the week, with summer weekends having the latest hours. See more..
  6. 4.5 South Higgins Lake State Park (88 reviews)

Higgins Lake was crystal clear. It was so confusing for us because we had only ever seen a creek be this clear. Everyone did get swimmers itch which is disgusting, but the views and the experience was wonderful! See more..

Had a great time playing Redwood Golf Course. This course was formerly called Burning Oak. Name changed in 2014 after a fire. There are 3 sets of tees, 6,418, 6,142 and 5,216-yards. The course was in good condition and fun course to play. The greens are all slated and challenging. Staff was nice. See more..
  12. 4.0 North Higgins Lake State Park (89 reviews)
    - Just stopped in here when looking for CCCmuseum. WOW THAT WAYER LOOKS CLEAR AND CLEAN( and shallow way out) !
    State Parks
North Higgins Lake State Park image
I’m looking for the CCC Museum we saw the road down to this lake which was very close to the entrance road so we stopped in quickly and boy I was amazed at how clean and clear and how shallow the water was seems like it went out probably at least 100 yards before it got deeper. I would like to come back and swim there some day although it’s close to two hours from our house in Grand Rapids area. We played golf town in Farwell at the Eagle Glen golf course and we were on our way up to Gaylord and we never seem to have time to stop at Higgins Lake State Park or Hartwick State Park and the CCC Museum so we got them all done See more..
  13. 4.0 Paddle Brave Canoe Livery & Campground (7 reviews)
    - First visit with more to follow!!
Gear Rentals • Kayaking & Canoeing
Paddle Brave Canoe Livery & Campground image
The campground was easy to find and getting checked in was a breeze! My wife and I stayed in a cabin and were quite pleased. It was in great condition and the mattresses were comfortable. Although it was hot outside the cross breeze inside the cabin was refreshing. The restrooms/showers were clean and BIG. Someone could arrive totally unprepared to camp and canoe/kayak and find everything needed inside of the camp store. Docking in the water at the campground was perfect. The only thing better than the details above are the owners. Friendly. Hospitable. Helpful. We will certainly visit again with a larger group to share the experience with others. See more..
