3 days of summer fun
We did a 3 day trip with our 3 and 5 year olds. It's a huge campground, 4 sections in all and they are all pretty much the same so it does not matter which one you book at, closer to the shoreline on any section would be most appealing. Sites are kinda packed in, but there are still many big trees for shade. Not too much grass, lots of dirt and the kids looked like pig pen for the entire 3 days. I wished I had an extra outdoor matt to lay down under the hammock or somewhere else that was high traffic. Lots of dogs, I like dogs! We rented a pontoon boat to go fishing, 8 person boat 360 for the day (8a-7p) plus a 350 deposit. The lake is huge and shallow for a long way from the shore then really deep. I quickly decided that I am a professional boating captain of the high seas, but was knocked back down to size when I hit an unexpected shallow area going full speed. Fyi- the propeller cost 103 dollars if you return it mangled. And they put you on the wall of shame in the camp store, lol. Nice long shoreline with lots of sandy areas to set up your beach day. I was disappointed with the amount of little pieces of litter all over the shore. People pull their pontoons really close to shore to store for the night and have to walk out in the water to get off and on. They probably drop trash on accident. We went out and picked up a bag before we left and were kind of grossed out by the amount of bandaids, I picked up probably 80ish?? We left it better than when we came and would definitely come back, with our own boat.

Beautiful place
Higgins Lake was crystal clear. It was so confusing for us because we had only ever seen a creek be this clear. Everyone did get swimmers itch which is disgusting, but the views and the experience was wonderful!
